Dan Stephens

125 articles

A San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan for life, Dan's earliest sports memories include getting rocked by the Loma Prieta earthquake while tuning in to Game 3 of the 1989 World Series and Joe Montana's rout of the Broncos in Super Bowl XXIV. Dan's interest in fantasy sports started with the franchise and front office modes that began appearing in sports video games in the '90s. His first foray into actual fantasy football and baseball leagues came around 1997. Dan made the jump from playing fantasy sports to writing about them in 2023. With over 20 years of experience playing fantasy football, one of Dan's biggest lessons learned is to stay on top of player utilization trends. He enjoys sharing his findings in his weekly "Warning Signals" column, published every Thursday. In 2025, he is also proud to be penning the fantasy outlooks for his hometown 49ers. You can reach Dan on X (@danifestmestiny) or Bluesky (@danifestmestiny.bsky.social) to discuss fantasy football starts/sits, the 49ers, and all things fantasy baseball.

Cody Ponce To Visit Dr. Neal ElAttrache On Monday

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Cody Ponce (knee) will visit Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Monday, per Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. The visit is scheduled one week after Ponce injured his knee during his March 30 start against the Colorado Rockies. While attempting to field a ground ball in the third inning, […]

Tyler Freeman Reinstated From 10-Day Injured List

The Colorado Rockies announced that utilityman Tyler Freeman (back) will be reinstated from the 10-day injured list, effective April 1. Backup catcher Braxton Fulford is being optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Freeman started the 2026 season on the IL due to back inflammation, which limited him to just eight games in spring […]

Zach Eflin Officially Placed On 15-Day Injured List

The Baltimore Orioles announced on Wednesday morning that they have placed starting pitcher Zach Eflin (elbow) on the 15-day injured list. Eflin started Tuesday's game against the Texas Rangers but left partway through the fourth inning due to discomfort in his throwing elbow. In 3.2 innings pitched, Eflin allowed two walks and a home run […]

Jordan Westburg Moved To 60-Day Injured List

The Baltimore Orioles announced on Wednesday that they have transferred infielder Jordan Westburg (elbow) to the 60-day injured list. Ricky Pearsall Leads 49ers In Receiving Yards

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee, ankle) logged five receptions for 85 yards on eight targets in their 42-38 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. Pearsall led the team in receiving yards and was second to backup tight end Jake Tonges in receptions and targets. After missing six weeks due to […]

Jauan Jennings Extends Touchdown Streak in Win

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings caught two of four targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday night's 42-38 win over the Chicago Bears. With the score, Jennings has visited the end zone in five straight games and in seven of the 49ers' last eight contests. Jennings had a quiet night until […]

Demarcus Robinson A Risky Pivot In Week 17

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 16, but was only involved enough to see one other target and finished the game with two catches for 23 yards and the score. Since the 49ers' Week 14 bye, Robinson has slid back behind Kendrick Bourne on the […]

Eddy Pineiro A Top Option Against Bears

San Francisco 49ers kicker Eddy Pineiro was six-for-six on extra point tries against the Colts in Week 16 and made two of his three field goal attempts. Pineiro was good from 25 and 38 yards out. His miss came on a 64-yard try at the end of the second quarter. It was his first missed […]

Jake Tonges A Potential Pivot For Kittle Owners

San Francisco 49ers tight end Jake Tonges could again be called on to fill the shoes of George Kittle (ankle), who is questionable for Week 17. With the 49ers taking on the Bears on Sunday Night Football, fantasy managers hoping to see Kittle take the field won't have many options should the tight end be […]

George Kittle Questionable For Sunday Night Football

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (ankle) missed each of the team's practices this week and is officially questionable for the team's clash with the Bears in Week 17. Kittle is expected to be a game-time decision, and with the teams being showcased on Sunday Night Football, fantasy managers will be left with few […]

Kendrick Bourne's Flex Appeal Tied To Teammates' Health

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne has seemingly regained his role as the team's third wide receiver after Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall (knee, ankle). Bourne had slipped behind Demarcus Robinson on the depth chart for a few weeks, but the former has outsnapped the latter in both of the 49ers' games coming out […]

Ricky Pearsall A Risky Start In Sunday Night Matchup

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee, ankle) logged three limited practices this week and has been tagged as questionable for Week 17. Pearsall's six-catch, 96-yard performance in Week 15 was a welcome turnaround after logging just five catches and 20 yards in the 49ers' previous three games. Unfortunately, he suffered an ankle sprain […]

Jauan Jennings Has Favorable Matchup In Week 17

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings has scored a touchdown in four straight games and has visited the end zone in six of the team's last seven contests. While the scoring binge has made him a valuable fantasy asset, he has been lacking in yardage. Jennings has hit a high of 71 yards (twice) […]

Christian McCaffrey Projected For Another RB1 Finish

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has finished outside of the top ten at his position just twice in 2025. The heart of San Francisco's offense, McCaffrey leads the team in targets per game, is averaging 125.9 scrimmage yards per game, and has scored a touchdown in all but four of the 49ers' games […]

Brock Purdy A Solid Option In Week 17

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has turned in four top-12 finishes in five games since returning from a six-week absence due to turf toe. Purdy stepped things up since the 49ers' Week 14 bye, putting up 295 passing yards in consecutive games and a total of eight touchdowns. Purdy has a great chance of […]

Demarcus Robinson Finds End Zone In Week 16

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson caught his first touchdown pass of the season in the team's 48-27 win over the Colts on Monday night. Robinson finished the game with two catches for 22 yards and the score on two targets. Outside of the trip to the end zone, Robinson did not benefit from […]

George Kittle Is 49ers' Leading Receiver In Week 16

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (ankle) led the team in receptions and receiving yards and tied for the team lead in targets in Monday's 48-27 win over the Colts. Kittle recorded seven catches for 115 yards and a touchdown on eight targets, setting a new season high in receiving yards and making his […]

Jauan Jennings Extends Touchdown Streak to Four Games

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings took yet another trip to the end zone in Week 16, extending his streak to a fourth game. He has at least one touchdown in six out of the 49ers' last seven games. In Monday night's 48-27 win over the Colts, Jennings caught five of his six targets […]

Another Monster Game for Christian McCaffrey in Week 16

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey had another explosive performance in Week 16. McCaffrey ran for 117 yards on 21 carries and caught six of his eight targets for 29 yards and two touchdowns in the 49ers' 48-27 win over the Colts on Monday night. It was one of McCaffrey's better running performances of […]

Brock Purdy Throws for Five Touchdowns in Week 16

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy came through in a big way for those relying on him for a Monday night miracle to advance to the fantasy football championship round. Purdy went 25-for-34 for 295 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception in the 49ers' 48-27 win over the Colts. Two of his touchdown throws went […]

San Francisco 49ers D/ST Hard To Trust Despite Matchup

The San Francisco 49ers D/ST allowed 24 points to the Titans in Week 15 and failed to record a turnover or a sack, even though Cam Ward is tied with two others as the most-sacked quarterback in the league. The 49ers have now recorded an interception in only three games, have 16 sacks on the […]

Eddy Pineiro A Solid Option For Week 16

San Francisco 49ers kicker Eddy Pineiro returned to action in Week 15 after missing two games due to a hamstring injury. Pineiro was money against the Titans, nailing every one of his attempts in the game. Pineiro was 3-for-3 on field goals, with makes from 33, 37, and 40 yards out, and was 4-for-4 on […]

George Kittle In TE1 Conversation For Week 16

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has finished in the top six at his position in four of his team's last five games. Volume has played a significant role in Kittle's recent success, finishing first or second on the team in targets in each of those same five games. During the stretch, Kittle has […]

Kendrick Bourne Climbing Back Up Depth Chart?

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne slipped behind Demarcus Robinson on the depth chart in recent weeks, but reclaimed the WR3 role against the Titans in Week 15. Robinson did end the game with more receiving yards, but Bourne logged a higher snap share between the two for the first time since Week 10. […]
