Daily Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (7/24) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the July 25th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on the July 24th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Operator, could you help me with this call? See the number on this card is old & faded...Cavan Biggio's living in Toronto w/ my best old ex-friend, Bo
  • Daulton Varsho is the talk of the town. 3 HR, 2 SB, .429 AVG last seven games
  • Riddle me this. Gleyber Torres has more SB (nine) than HR (six).
  • Jameson Taillon w/ 1.44 ER in 4 July starts (SEA, HOU, BOS, BOS). TB next.
  • "I just felt like running." ~ Bryce Harper (12)
  • Austin Riley with 16th shot of high society.
  • Fernando Tatis Jr. (30) adds another star to the constellation (40 deg L.A.)
  • M & Ms are so good. Trey Mancini (17) & Ryan Mountcastle (16). **Yep, donation to $170**
  • Jesse Winker, you have a little BBQ sauce right...YAGA! He doesn't care. It is, was, & will always be delicious. (20th HR)
  • This burnt rubber indicates this is where the chaos began. Juan Soto (17) w/ 8 HR, .389 AVG in last 15 games.
  • Mitch Haniger will have two slices of that pecan pie. (25)
  • Which catcher stat matters the most? At-bats. Salvador Perez dominates w/ 376 AB. (22 HR)
  • Jeimer Candelario providing warmth in the mountains, but you're too cool to snuggle. (2 HR, .375 AVG last seven games)
  • Luis Castillo supports clean energy production (41% Whiff rate)
  • Jake Woodford, four pitches is nice. Place them or Chase them.
  • Four-category Yordan Alvarez will rocket up 2022 drafts. Power, AVG, health, & OF eligibility
  • Austin Meadows with two tickets to paradise (18).
  • Kevin Gausman, there was a banner across the sky that read, "It is the Pirates!" How did you miss it?
  • I apologize Patrick Sandoval for leaving you on the pantry shelf. 8.2 IP, 13 K.
  • Have you seen Teoscar Hernandez with a fly-swatter? Pop! Pop! Dead! (#15)
  • Ji-Man Choi has 2 HR, .375 AVG last seven games, bats second, but you're too cool for him. Fine, we're taking our "oe kimchi" somewhere else.
  • Finally, Tony Gonsolin brought his hot oils & lathered himself up on the mound.
  • Kyle Gibson having hot flashes. 6.26 ERA in July.
  • Go ahead, Mr. Wendle.
  • Rowdy Tellez drops a legion of doom on Rawlings.
  • Do you hear that sound? I think that is Cody Bellinger sliding to the second round of 2022 drafts.
  • If you're gonna try El Coffee (Gregory Polanco), now is the time. 2 HR, 3 SB, .304 AVG last 7 games.
  • Uh-oh, Carlos Rodon is slowing down. No more overtime.
  • Marcus Semien hides in the shadows while the big names distract you.
  • Framber Valdez, stop handing out walkers (six), you don't work at an old-folks home anymore.
  • Can we get a restart? Taijuan Walker slipped at starting line. 4 IP, 6 ER.
  • Eeesh, Logan Gilbert. Oh, you're just saving yourself for TEX next. Oh, ok.

Endgame

Closing Thoughts

  • Good Sunday mornin'. Don't take yourself & life so seriously all the time. Get out & do something you did when you were a kid. Climb a tree. Play in the dirt. Have an ice cream cone & get messy. Jump in the sprinkler. Remind yourself to relax. It's FAB day so spend a little time getting ALL your teams right, not just the ones winning.
