Zay Jones 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Will He Build On A Stellar 2022 Campaign?
2 years agoIf you are unfamiliar with Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones' statistics from 2022, you will be pleasantly surprised. Despite the Jaguars spending a lot of money to bring in Christian Kirk, Jones finished with two fewer receptions than his counterpart. The 28-year-old caught 82 passes on 122 targets for 823 yards and five touchdowns over 16 games in 2022. Although his yards and touchdowns were less reliable than Kirk, he cemented himself as a top target in Jacksonville's offense. The team placed the franchise tag on Evan Engram this offseason and brought in former Atlanta Falcons first-round pick Calvin Ridley during last year's trade deadline. Ridley's tenure with the Falcons was inconsistent at best. Ridley did flash moments of brilliance, but we last saw him in Week 7 of the 2021 season. This is a loaded offense that should be fun to watch. Despite the abundance of mouths to feed, Jones was a reliable target for the growing Trevor Lawrence. He should be a great depth piece in any PPR format, and remember, the Bills drafted him with the 37th pick in 2017, so the talent should be there.
