Keaontay Ingram 2022 Outlook - Rookie Running Back Buried On Depth Chart
2 years agoThe Arizona Cardinals added to their backfield this offseason with the departure of Chase Edmonds in free agency, as they selected running back Keaontay Ingram out of USC in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Ingram was impressive in his final collegiate season at USC after transferring from Texas, as he rushed 156 times for 911 yards (5.8 YPC) and added 22 receptions for 156 yards while scoring five touchdowns (10 games). In his three seasons at Texas, Ingram carried the ball 339 times for 1,811 yards (5.3 YPC) and added 67 receptions for 515 yards while scoring 17 total touchdowns. The 6-foot, 215-pound back looked like he was in a position to duke it out with Eno Benjamin for RB2 duties behind starter James Conner post-NFL Draft, but then Darrel Williams was added to the mix. Going into his rookie season, a lot would have to unfold for Ingram to possess any sort of fantasy value. Although we have seen Conner struggle with injuries in the past, Ingram would still have to fight off Williams and Benjamin for playing time in the high-powered Arizona offense. The 22-year-old can be left on the waiver wire to start the season.
