Jordan Howard 2018 Outlook: Ground And Pound In Chi-Town
6 years agoWhile the Bears added some play makers in the passing game this off-season, such as the likes of Allen Robinson and Markus Wheaton, the name of the game in Chicago is on the ground and the lead man is Jordan Howard.
Howard was healthy for all 16 games last year, and racked up 1,122 rushing yards and scored nine rushing touchdowns, while adding 23 catches for 125 yards. His pitfall is particularly in the passing game, as Howard lacks a great pass-catching ability. Howard's counterpart in the backfield is Tarik Cohen, who is a terrific pass catcher and is a good fit with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky's roll-out style.
In order for Howard to stay on the field, the Bears need to be competitive in games, as the game script goes a long way toward allowing Howard to get the touches needed to produce as a borderline RB1 in fantasy. However, Howard did finish fifth in the NFL in carries last year despite the Bears finishing with a 5-11 record. Howard is a solid third round pick, but can slip down to the fourth round depending on how owners in leagues view the potential of this season's rookie running backs, who seem to be in better situations, but alas are unproven at the NFL level.
