Jack Doyle 2020 Outlook: Sneaky Tight End Upside In The Later Rounds
5 years agoIndianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle is in the best situation he has ever been in. He is the undisputed TE1 on the Colts' depth chart, and the addition of Philip Rivers at quarterback means he will be targeted often on third downs and in the red zone. Rivers has always looked to his tight end to move the chains and bail him out of trouble, and Doyle will be no different. The only challenge to the 6’6” chain-mover for fantasy production at tight end is the newly signed Trey Burton, but Burton is routinely injured and he was a monstrous disappointment for the Chicago Bears the last two seasons. Doyle has shown that he has the ability to gain separation at the top of his routes and to be in the right place at the right time for his quarterback. However, the former Western Kentucky Hilltoper has always had something in his way which prevented him from reaching his full potential. In 2018, the Colts tight end suffered from a couple of injuries which quickly led to Eric Ebron taking over as the go-to tight end. Last year, he played 16 games, but suffered from inconsistent quarterback play from Jacoby Brissett, and finished with a mediocre stat line of 43 receptions for 448 yards and four touchdowns. Finally, in 2020, Doyle has no one in his way and a top-tier quarterback to feed him the ball. He is a tremendous value right now with an ADP of TE16, and he could provide fantasy owners with a consistent 10-point floor in PPR leagues at an extremely volatile position. If fantasy owners miss out on one of the top-tier tight ends, Rivers’ new security blanket may be the perfect guy to save their season at the end of their draft.
