Haason Reddick 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Valuable in Sack-Heavy Scoring Systems
1 year agoPhiladelphia Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick will attempt to maintain his explosiveness if he is in the same role. After joining the Eagles last season, Reddick's role changed to let him focus more on getting after opposing quarterbacks. He was on the field for 817 snaps, fewer than in the previous two seasons. But the snaps he was on the field for were more valuable, as 54.9% of them were pass-rush situations. His 448 pass rushes were his most yet. The upshot was that he set career highs in sacks, with 16.0, 3.5 more than his previous high, and 26 QB hits, eight more than in 2021. His combined tackle numbers, however, declined to the lowest level since his rookie season in 2017. Reddick should be prioritized in IDP leagues with sack-heavy scoring systems. The Eagles did change defensive coordinators this offseason, so a change in their scheme could impact Reddick's production. But incoming coordinator Sean Desai could be able to get the most out of Reddick. When Desai was DC of the Chicago Bears in 2021, the Bears ranked No. 4 in the league in sacks.
