Gregory Polanco Still Looking To Break Out
7 years agoGregory Polanco's breakout year was supposed to be 2017, but he wound up being one of the bigger busts of the fantasy season. The Pirates right fielder battled a left hamstring strain all year, making three trips to the disabled list and appearing in only 108 games. It held him back when he played, too, as his hard contact rate (25.7%) fell by nearly 10 percent from 2016 (35.7%) and he only hit .251/.305/.391 with 11 home runs, 35 RBI, and eight stolen bases. Understandably, Polanco is a question mark heading into 2018, but he's still just 26 years old and the talent is there for a breakout. His 2017 campaign should mean he's available in the middle or later rounds of your draft, making him a potential high-value pick. When healthy in 2016, he brought a nice combination of power (22 HR, 34 doubles, 4 triples), speed (17 SB), and run production (86 RBI) to the table. Expect a better season from Polanco as long as he stays healthy.
