Amari Cooper 2020 Outlook: Same Player Different Year
5 years agoDallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper has been the same player for nearly his entire NFL career. He is good for something close to 1,100 yards, 75 catches, and eight touchdowns, but his inconsistent usage and concentration shouldn't let him get much more than that. Last year, the 25-year-old receiver's inconsistency was even more pronounced than usual. He tallied 49% of his entire 2019 yardage in just four games. Those four games also accounted for 42% of Cooper's catches and 37% of his touchdowns. The former Raider's uneven weekly output could rise to even higher levels in 2020 with the Cowboys' addition of CeeDee Lamb, who was the best receiver in this year's NFL Draft. Lamb will join Michael Gallup and Ezekiel Elliott as talented receivers who should take some targets away from Cooper every week. While he has the talent and rapport with Dak Prescott to maintain his usual WR2 status, Lamb's addition to this offense eliminates any chance Cooper had of being a WR1 anytime soon. His ADP as fantasy's 29th overall player is just about right, and it is a reasonable price to pay for him in all formats.
