Adolis Garcia 2022 Player Outlook: A Hot Start To 2021 Makes Him Overpriced in 2022
3 years agoGarcia's rookie year was one of the few bright spots for the Rangers in 2021. He smashed 31 homers and drove in 90 runs while adding 16 steals over 622 plate appearances. That was good enough to nearly win him a Rookie of the Year Award but as we take a closer look – things don't look so good. His 31% strikeout rate and 5% walk rate were both very bad, and he did most of his damage in the season's first two months (hitting 16 homers and stealing six bases in April and May). After June 1st, he hit just 15 more homers while batting .224 with a quite bad .397 slugging percentage (that's a 29 PA/HR, which is right at the league average). He was also one of the older rookies you'll find at the age of 28. That gives us a guy that seems to have hugely benefited from a hot two-month span, and there really are not too many reasons for optimism that he can repeat his final line from a year ago. Even with an ADP of 157, Adolis appears much too expensive.
