Adam Frazier 2020 Outlook: Don’t Expect Much Improvement After Down Year
5 years agoAdam Frazier was a disappointment last year after his promising second half in 2018 was perceived as a launching pad to a breakout season for 2019. Frazier hit .306 with seven home runs after the All-Star break in ‘18 and was viewed as an upside performer for quality production and versatility heading into last year, as he played both second base and the outfield. But Frazier finished with the same amount of home runs (10) as he did in ‘18 with 236 more at-bats. The batting average remained respectable at .278 and he did score 80 runs, but expectations were certainly higher overall. All of his at-bats came exclusively at second base last year, so there is no extra appeal eligibility wise heading into 2020. Frazier’s Barrel % was 1.9, which was in the bottom four percent of the league. The xSLG was .399 and the xWOBA was .315 last season, so there are no indicators that we should see any more significant strides forward for 2020. Frazier's skills are little more than what 2019 represented. At least the batting average is adequate when you consider his xBA was .275 last season. Frazier has an ADP of 495.95, and you should look elsewhere unless you need a decent average with less-than-impressive power. He is only useful in NL-only formats.
