AJ Pollock 2021 Fantasy Outlook: Late-Round Power/Speed Asset That Comes With Injury Risk
4 years agoAfter signing a long-term deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, many were wondering how outfielder AJ Pollock would do on a contending team. If the small sample of last season proved anything, it's that when he's able to stay healthy, Pollock can be one of the top outfielders in the game in spurts. After playing in only 86 games in 2019 due to injury while hitting .266/.337/.468, Pollock improved in 2020. Playing in fewer games (55), Pollock had a slash line of .276/.314/.566. His batting average and slugging percentage were his best marks since his lone All-Star season in 2015. While walking at a snail's pace (12), Pollock's weighted on-base average (.364) was the highest it has been since he became a true star. The power is also there (.291 ISO). The 33-year-old could see more playing time with Joc Pederson out of town, but he's played in over 113 games just twice in nine years because of injuries and can be a frustrating player to own because of extreme hot-and-cold stretches. Pollock is a fringy top-50 outfielder with some pop who mostly benefits from being in a stacked Dodgers lineup.
