2025 Zurich Classic Power Rankings: Top 10 Teams To Watch

TourPicks ranks his top-10 Teams to watch for at the 2025 Zurich Classic at TPC Louisiana Insights on the top-10 golfers for the week and reasons why they are primed to win.

The PGA Tour was due for a week to come up for air. Insert the Zurich Classic, which introduces a unique, fun team format that helps to break some things up in terms of the prolonged intensity of the past month. It can be a difficult week from a handicapping perspective, but I am utilizing all the tools in the toolbox to isolate the teams best suited for success...together.

In this article, I'm ranking my top 10 teams that I believe have the best opportunity to win the 2025 Zurich Classic. I have carefully evaluated the field, searching for clues based on historical data and recent form to power rank each based on momentum coming in this week.

Let’s dive into my Top 10 Power Rankings for the 2025 Zurich Classic:

No. 10 - Jesper Svensson / Nicklas Norgaard

• Potentially the longest team in the field. These two guys can absolutely SEND IT off the tee.

• Both players are inside the top 10 players in the field in Birdie-or-Better percentage over the past 36 rounds.
• Svensson has had an extremely hot putter. You need at least one player who is rolling it well. Svensson ranks sixth in the field in SG: Putting over the past 24 rounds played.

No. 9 - Akshay Bhatia / Carson Young

• Bhatia feels very close to a win. He plays his best when he can attack pins and hunt birdies, which is why he has often played his best on TPC courses that reward aggression.

• Young has been inconsistent, but has remained steady OTT. It's an asset that should be helpful in filling some gaps for Bhatia, who is the better overall player.
• Bhatia was second in the field in SG: Approach at the RBC Heritage last week. The irons are firing at the moment!

No. 8 - Rasmus Hojgaard / Nicolai Hojgaard

• Both players have flashed exceptional rounds, but have failed to put it together for all four rounds. The team format could be a welcome change if they can time their rounds properly.

• The twins should theoretically excel in the alt-shot format. They have played together their entire golfing lives. This works, right?
• The Hojgaards have a ton of speed. Both rank inside the top-7 players in the field in ball speed. They should be able to dominate the Par 5's.

No. 7 - Wyndham Clark / Taylor Moore

• Solid history in this event for both players in past years, although this is the first time they are teaming up.

• We haven't seen Taylor Moore play in about a month, which is concerning. His last start was as an MC at the Valspar Championship. Clark finished T27 at the RBC Heritage.
• Plenty of distance and power to tackle this layout, mainly the par 5's. Clark remains one of the highest-ranked players in the field, but they need to play from the fairways in Louisiana.

No. 6 - Andrew Novak / Ben Griffin

• Novak is in the best form of his life. He has three top-3 podium finishes this year, including both of his last two starts. He lost in the playoff vs. Justin Thomas at the RBC Heritage.

• Potentially some mental fatigue after back-to-back close calls, but Novak has been adept at scrambling, which is also a strength of Griffin, who is one of the best chippers in the field.
• Griffin returns to his comfort zone on the Bermuda grass greens where he is Top-5 in the field at Putting on these greens.

No. 5 - Thomas Detry / Robert MacIntyre

• This team competed for the first time together at the Zurich Classic last year. They finished T8.
• Two experienced Ballstrikers who can make birdies in bunches. Detry won earlier this year in Phoenix, and MacIntyre recently finished ninth at THE PLAYERS.
• They are the third team on some oddsboards to win, but I slightly downgraded them after both missing the cut at The Masters and not playing well at the RBC Heritage either.

No. 4 - Billy Horschel / Tom Hoge

• I love this pair. Tom Hoge is one of the most reliable approach players on the PGA Tour, and you combine him with a guy like Horschel, who has a knack for making big putts.
• Hoge is really trending with four consecutive tournaments inside the Top 18. His approach from inside 150 yards is elite.
• Horschel thrives in a team environment. He feels like his game is very close, and this format could accentuate what he does best.

No. 3 - Collin Morikawa / Kurt Kitayama

• Last year, Rory McIlroy felt like the change of pace at the Zurich Classic jump-started his run. Could it do the same for Collin Morikawa, who is searching for a win?

• Morikawa will be tasked with doing the heavy lifting. Kitayama hasn't had a top-30 finish in the past two months of play.
• Over the past 24 rounds, Morikawa ranks 2nd in Ballstriking, 3rd in Approach, 3rd in fairways, and 1st in birdies made.

No. 2 - Keith Mitchell / JT Poston

• Good friends who are hoping to pair Mitchell's excellence over the first 36 holes with Poston's ability on the weekends.

• Keith Mitchell has great past experience at this tournament. Sixth place in 2023 and T4 in 2021. Poston has not played in this event in the last two years.
• Mitchell has continued to be elite OTT. After struggling earlier this season with putting, Poston is back to rolling it great. +5.5 putting at the RBC Heritage last week.

No. 1 - Rory McIlroy / Shane Lowry

• Defending Champions who are coming into the tournament this year and are in significantly better form than they were last season.
• Has McIlroy touched a golf club in the past week? Does it matter? Probably not, he's here to rack up another win with one of his closest friends, Shane Lowry.
• This is the only team in the field where both players rank inside the Top 10 in Ballstriking and Approach play. They do a phenomenal job of scrambling to avoid bogeys, and we know that you can't go backwards in this event. The repeat is ON!
