Yimi Garcia to Throw Live Batting Practice on Thursday
Yimi Garcia (shoulder) threw a bullpen session in Florida on Monday and is scheduled for a live batting practice session on Thursday, according to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling. Garcia will face live hitters this week after initially resuming a throwing program on June 6 as he works his way back from a right-shoulder impingement that landed him on the 15-day injured list on May 24. When he returns, the 34-year-old Dominican veteran will settle back into a high-leverage setup role at the back end of Toronto's bullpen while also seeing the occasional save chance. Before his shoulder injury, Garcia had a 3.15 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with three saves, 24 strikeouts and 10 walks in 20 relief innings in his return to Canada. Garcia has 29 career saves in 11 big-league seasons and will be valuable in holds leagues.
