Richard Fitts Put on Injured List With Arm Neuritis
Richard Fitts (arm) on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with right-arm neuritis and recalled left-hander Jovani Moran from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move, according to Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic. Fitts was pulled early from his start in Monday's series opener against the Baltimore Orioles after allowing three earned runs on two hits (one homer) while walking three and striking out six in four innings of work. The silver lining was that the 25-year-old picked up his second win of the season. However, he will now be out for at least the next two weeks, and given the nature of his injury, it's quite possible he won't pitch again for Boston the rest of the year. It's unclear who might take Fitts' spot in the starting rotation, but it could be Cooper Criswell. Fitts has gone 2-4 this year with an even 5.00 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 40 K's in 45 innings.
