Richard Fitts Optioned to Minors
The Boston Red Sox announced that they have optioned right-hander Richard Fitts to Triple-A Worcester. Additionally, the team has selected the contract of righty Isaiah Campbell from Worcester and moved reliever Liam Hendriks (hip) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL. Fitts, 25, is on his way back to the minors after earning his first major league win on Monday. He held the Colorado Rockies to three runs (two earned) over 5 2/3 innings of five-hit ball with six strikeouts and one walk in a 9-3 victory. Overall, Fitts has gone 1-3 with a 4.33 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, and 28:10 K:BB in 33 2/3 innings. Righty Hunter Dobbins (elbow) could come off the IL to take Fitts' place in Boston's rotation in the coming days.
