Richard Fitts Activated and Starting on Tuesday
Richard Fitts (pectoral) from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-hander Zack Kelly to Triple-A Worcester after Monday's game in a corresponding move. The team also reinstated left-hander Zach Penrod (elbow) from the 60-day IL and optioned him to Worcester. Fitts is starting on Tuesday in Milwaukee against the Brewers, an offense that ranks 25th in the league with a .664 OPS. In his only minor-league rehab start, Fitts threw only 38 pitches over three innings, so despite the plush matchup on the road, Fitts will probably be on a quick hook on Tuesday in his first game back after missing six weeks with a pectoral strain. In his three starts before his injury, Fitts had a decent 3.18 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 13 punchouts and five walks in 17 innings pitched.
