Jordan Hicks Reinstated From 15-Day Injured List on Monday
Jordan Hicks (toe) from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-hander Zack Kelly to Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move. Hicks will be making his debut with the Red Sox when he gets into a game after being acquired from the San Francisco Giants on June 15 in the Rafael Devers deal. The 28-year-old hard-throwing hurler was demoted from a starting role to a relief role with the Giants before the trade and is expected to remain in a relief role with the Red Sox now that he's healthy. Hicks has the stuff to be used in a high-leverage relief role, but the BoSox will most likely ease him in as a middle reliever. He went 1-5 with a 6.47 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 43:20 K:BB in 48 2/3 innings over 13 outings (nine starts) with the Giants and won't have a ton of fantasy appeal unless he eventually returns to a starting role.
