Welcome to the July 31st edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on the July 30th games. Enjoy them. - BERSERKER! Austin Riley unleashes fury (22).
- Yoan Moncada swears he didn't get a body double to hit that HR (nine). Lock him in room & play Baby Shark on repeat. He will talk.
- Javier Baez w/ 2B eligibility? Hell Yeah! I'll be waiting.
- Trevor Story checks his watch. Ok, time to start cranking it up. No, not for Rockies...for future team's wallet.
- Just give Ke'Bryan Hayes a life jacket. Only one HR and two SB in the last 40 games?! He's not a swimmer.
- Josh Bell (17) enjoys the "All You Can Play" Buffet. You like it too? You like the 51% GB rate?
- Ian Happ has all the time he wants to get right. .286 AVG in the last seven games is a start. .229 BABIP doesn't help. Please don't look at his xBA.
- Gregory Polanco has put some stats on the plate (2 HR, 3 SB, .278 AVG last 15 games. Did you see his cameo appearance in Trouble with the Curve? (.161 xBA)
- Would you still be complaining about no power if you drafted Whit Merrifield's 27 SB, .273 AVG? Yeah, you're probably right. You would.
- Bo Bichette sits in the park enjoying his Firehouse combo meal. Yep, he's generous w/ his crumbs. (19 HR/ 16 SB)
- Salvador Perez loads your baked ziti w/ extra cheese (26)
- Ryan Mountcastle is like Pepe Le Pew. He chases his love (42%) & may Swing*Miss often (17%) but sometimes ....ooooooh-weeeee (17th passionate moment)
- Dammit. Another grey hair. You know why? Joey Votto....21st long ball (nine HR in the last seven games). Only 74% rostered. Unbelievable!
- Jonathan India makes his tacos spicy. NO! Don't water it down for the weak. More heat please. 10 HR, 7 SB, .281 AVG.

- Chris Bassitt unleashes his 5 pitches & walks away. 11th win.
- Matt Chapman caught something in 2020. Suddenly a 36% K rate and 32% in 2021.
- Patrick Sandoval, you're fired!!! We do not give out endless free samples. (six BB)
- It's ok to be different & like your own flavors thinking Tyler O'Neill (nine SB) is better than Tommy Edman (18 SB)
- Jarred Kelenic with two multi-hit games in three days (third HR). Don't get cocky, Mr. eight-hole hitter.
- I too ask myself how I could be so wrong. Eggplant parm is delicious. Yeah, wrong on Tony Gonsolin too.
- Ryan McMahon doesn't like the bases full. He must clear them. It irks him so.
