Fantasy Football Trade Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider trading for or trading away heading into Week 3:
Chuba Hubbard, RB, Panthers
Trade Value: 28
ROS Rank: 69
Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard was already atop the depth chart, but he could evolve into an every-down back now that one of his teammates is injured. Jonathon Brooks (core) was placed on injured reserve, which means he'll miss at least four games.
The latest reporting, however, indicates that his injury will likely keep him sidelined for six to eight weeks. That leaves Hubbard in line to operate as the primary running back with minimal competition through mid-November. Hubbard has been impressive so far this season, scoring three touchdowns and contributing at least 14.4 PPR points in each of his two games.
He ranks as the overall RB8 in PPR leagues so far, and he should continue to produce as a high-end RB2 with top-12 upside going forward. He's in must-start territory for a very favorable Week 2 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, who just surrendered 89 rushing yards (5.24 YPC) to Bucky Irving.
Verdict: Emerging as prime "buy-high" candidate. With Brooks set to miss nearly half the season, Hubbard can provide borderline RB1 production for much of the campaign.
Josh Downs, WR, Colts
Trade Value: 34
ROS Rank: 57
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs finally got going in Week 2, catching seven of nine targets for 72 yards in the overtime loss to Kansas City. He had only two catches for 37 yards in the opener, so the jump in involvement was hard to miss. Alec Pierce left Sunday's game in the first quarter after aggravating his surgically repaired heel and is now slated to go on injured reserve.
That should leave more work for Downs, even after Indianapolis signed Darius Slayton this week. Keenan Allen and Tyler Warren are still going to command targets, so this is not suddenly a one-man passing game. Downs does have a clearer path than he did a week ago, though. He led the Colts in targets, catches, and receiving yards against the Chiefs and now has nine receptions for 109 yards through two games.
RotoBaller has him at WR26 for Week 3 against Houston. With Pierce set to miss time, Downs has a chance to turn one busy night into a much steadier role.
Verdict: Like Hubbard, Downs is a top "buy-high" option. Downs should see a career-high in targets in 2026 as Pierce could very well miss a majority of the campaign.
Luther Burden III, WR, Bears
Trade Value: 52
ROS Rank: 30
Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III has not lived up to his preseason hype, totaling just eight catches, 95 yards, zero touchdowns, and one lost fumble through two games. To make matters worse, he's facing a quarterback downgrade heading into Week 3. Caleb Williams (hamstring) and Tyson Bagent (concussion) are both expected to miss Sunday's game against the Eagles, leaving third-string quarterback Case Keenum in line to start. This massive shift in quarterback play will likely only hurt Burden's already iffy fantasy outlook.
With Williams at the helm, Burden was a WR3, but at least he had upside in a high-powered offense. Keenum's takeover raises serious questions about whether this offense will be able to function, and therefore, Burden takes on a very low floor. The only saving grace is that the Bears might go pass-heavy in a negative game script, but that's not enough reason to start him with confidence.
Managers would be better suited to find an alternative receiver to plug in at WR3/flex for the duration of Williams' absence.
Verdict: While Burden's value is dropping, managers who can afford a short-term hit should consider buying low on the emerging star wideout. Once Williams is healthy,y Burden could have a league-winning upside for much of the second half.
Kyren Williams, RB, Rams
Trade Value: 31
ROS Rank: 51
Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams rushed for 85 yards on 12 carries during Monday's blowout win over the New York Giants in Week 2. He also caught two passes for 12 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. Williams averaged just 3.7 yards per carry in last week's season opener, so it was quite encouraging to see him nearly double his per-carry average with 7.1 yards per attempt this week.
Additionally, after scoring 13+ touchdowns in each of his last three seasons, Williams remains on pace for another big scoring year after reaching the end zone for the second game in a row. The Rams did give Blake Corum 12 carries of his own this week, but he doesn't have the same touchdown or receiving upside as Williams. The 26-year-old is a high-end RB2, but he has low-end RB1 upside depending on his matchup.
He'll face off against a solid Denver Broncos defense in Week 3.
Verdict: Williams will continue to provide a safe floor as an RB2 but will see his upside capped due to the emergence of Corum. Managers who can sell high should target a similar high-end RB2 with more weekly volume.
Fantasy Football Trade Rankings Values
The higher the Trade Value number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Find your players, add up the trade values of each side of the offer, and see which side of the trade wins.
Who Should I Trade For?
Week 3 Trade Decisions. Today's focus is on specific players - Rashee Rice, David Montgomery, Josh Downs, Kyren Williams, Luther Burden III, Chuba Hubbard. These are some key fantasy football names heading into this week's matchups.
Using The Trade Values. This is a simple trade value tool, but very powerful. In our fantasy football trade value rankings above, you will see the Trade Value for each player. The higher the number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Players with a high trade value number are players that you should be targeting more in trades.
How It Works. Each week, our RotoBaller staff puts together their weekly fantasy football rankings, projections, and trade values based on their research. That information is the core data that is powering the decision-making in this trade value rankings.
How To Calculate Trades. Fantasy football managers will make 1-for-1 trades, or 2-for-3 trades, or 3-for-2 trades, or many other combinations. For each side of the deal, add the trade values together. Whichever side has a higher total number wins the trade. For example, if someone is offering you three players, add the trade values of those three players together. Does the value of those three players exceed the values of the player(s) you are trading away? If so then it's a good deal for you.
