Should I pickup Isaac TeSlaa or Tom Kennedy as fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 14 of 2025? Read our fantasy football waiver wire outlooks.
Detroit Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) went down very early in his team's Week 13 Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers with an ankle injury. He was later diagnosed with a low-ankle sprain.
The Lions play again on Thursday this week against the Dallas Cowboys. While the injury he has hasn't fully ruled him out yet, it's looking likely that he won't be able to play. In his absence, WR Jameson Williams will serve as the team's WR1.
Williams is rostered in the vast majority of leagues, though. If you're looking to the waiver wire for a receiver to add to your team, you probably can't grab him. But Lions WRs Tom Kennedy and Isaac TeSlaa both had touchdown catches in Week 13. So which should you pick them up off the wire for Week 14?

Tom Kennedy Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
It was Kennedy who struck first of the two. He ended his day catching all four of his targets for 36 yards. He hadn't played a single offensive snap up to that point, as the team had leaned heavily on the pass-catching services of St. Brown and tight end Sam LaPorta (back) until they got hurt.
But with LaPorta out for the season, the Lions shifted to running a lot more 3WR sets, or formations in which three wide receivers are on the field, as opposed to the 12-personnel looks they preferred earlier in the year, where two tight ends and two wide receivers are on the field.

One of Kennedy's catches, on the play above, came on a play he was simply whiffed on by the defense. Nobody ran with him on his route and he was left wide open to make a catch. It's hard to see him replicating this performance weekly, though.
He was previously on the team's practice squad, and it's only because of injuries that he's been elevated. It seems like a major risk to put him in starting lineups for Week 14. This maybe only moves the needle in dynasty leagues, where he probably wasn't previously rostered. But St. Brown isn't expected to miss a ton of time.
Sure, any receiver might be able to have a good game against the porous Dallas Cowboys pass defense, but I wouldn't count on it.
Isaac TeSlaa Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
TeSlaa was only targeted twice in the loss, though he made the plays count by catching both of his looks for 35 yards and a touchdown. TeSlaa's rookie season highlight reel is pretty hilarious -- he's caught six of his 11 passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns.
No receiver has high volume in the NFL and ends up with anywhere near 50 percent of their catches going for touchdowns, but TeSlaa has already made wild catches, including a pair of one-handed snags early in the season. It seems like he should be getting more work moving forward, especially with LaPorta being injured.

I'm a big believer in him as a prospect and NFL player, and a big believer that his hairstyle (a rather large mullet) is a big driver of his production. Not really, but it looks awesome, right? Still, he's a talented and athletic receiver that seemingly hasn't gotten enough work this year.
I don't see it as crazy to start him in Week 14 if St. Brown can't take the field, and would much rather have him than Kennedy.
Should I Pickup Tom Kennedy or Isaac TeSlaa For Fantasy Football?
TeSlaa is the player you should pick up. He has awesome hair, an awesome name, and importantly, awesome athletic talent. He's 6-foot-4 and weighs 214 pounds, and can chew up ground very quickly. Rookies can often struggle in the NFL, though.
The windows in which to complete passes are smaller, the defenders are faster, stronger, and more physical, defenses are tougher in general, and there's often a big learning curve players have to fight against to start being consistent.

We might only get one week of predictable and serviceable production from him, if that. St. Brown seems to be likely to return in Week 15 at the latest. But this is the final week of the fantasy football regular season in most fantasy leagues, so it's important to get whoever you can that has upside, even if they're a one-week rental.
TeSlaa makes sense as a waiver add for that reason.
