Later-Round Fantasy Football Draft Values: Running Back Sleepers (2025)

Braelon Allen - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Five running back (RB) fantasy football sleepers, value picks to target late in 2025 drafts. These are undervalued RB sleepers to draft in the later rounds.

Welcome to our later-round running back fantasy football draft values and sleepers for the 2025 season. The later rounds of the fantasy football draft can be the difference between winning and losing your league. Once you reach a certain point in the draft, fantasy managers can afford to take risks and chances on high-upside players. There are multiple directions you can go in the later rounds in choosing a variety of different players, including prospects, players returning from injuries, forgotten veterans, or even skilled players with potential playing time concerns.

It's essential to have at least a handful of sleeper targets at each position heading into your fantasy football drafts, no matter the format. Here are some late-round running backs for you to consider drafting this season.

Our editors have hand-picked these specific NFL players for your draft prep enjoyment. Usually only available to Premium subscribers, the outlooks below are meant to give you a taste of the in-depth analysis you receive with our industry-leading 2025 Draft Kit. Be sure to subscribe today and start reading all 300+ of our 2025 player outlooks, along with many other premium articles and tools available exclusively in our 2024 Draft Kit.

Jaydon Blue, Cowboys, Fantasy Football Outlook

New Dallas Cowboys running back Jaydon Blue, selected with the 149th overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 NFL Draft, is easily the best pass-catching running back on the squad right now. While the backfield is technically crowded right now, with RBs Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders being signed after the 2024 season and Phil Mafah also drafted this year (in the seventh round), Blue has a clear path to immediate fantasy relevancy in PPR leagues.

If he can establish himself as at least one of two backs that are primarily used in games, his penchant for forcing missed tackles and his solid receiving upside could make him a startable player. He forced 0.27 missed tackles per rush in 2024 and was second among 31 qualifying RB prospects in yards per route run and targets per route run. This is likely a big reason why Dallas selected Blue.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott would certainly like a nice weapon to throw the ball to out of the backfield, and he and Blue should develop a connection early. Prescott's lack of mobility will be exacerbated by his career injury history, so he could look Blue's way often on check-downs and dump-offs to get out of trouble. Blue should be a nice value in the late rounds of redraft leagues and a good dynasty stash.

Trey Benson, Cardinals, Fantasy Football Outlook

There aren't many good things to say about Trey Benson's rookie season. He didn't command a lot of touches and seemed hesitant and indecisive as a rusher whenever he was on the field. The Cardinals felt similarly and leaned heavily on veteran James Conner, who set new career highs in carries and rushing yards in 2024.

Arizona even went as far as to sign Conner to a two-year contract extension last November. Unless Conner is injured or experiences a dip in production, Benson will likely be relegated to RB2 duties this season. Conner enters the 2025 season at 30 years old and has a history of injuries.

Benson could emerge as an RB2 play if he gets an extended run as the starter. It was a good sign for Benson that Arizona didn't add a running back in the NFL Draft, but he's still clearly behind Conner on the depth chart. However, given Conner's age and injury history, Benson might be worth gambling on with a late-round pick.

--Dave Ventresca - RotoBaller

Ray Davis, Bills, Fantasy Football Outlook

Buffalo Bills running back Ray Davis is unlikely to take over the RB1 role from his team's lead back, James Cook. But he's an excellent handcuff option for deeper leagues. Davis didn't have a bad rookie season -- his film was solid despite his numbers not being overly impressive.

He faced a mountain of stacked boxes over the season, and many of his run plays weren't well-blocked. But he showed flashes of very good potential, and Buffalo's excellent offensive line would help him put up great fantasy performances if he ends up starting games. A Cook injury would put Davis in the conversation as a must-start every week.

Davis has solid receiving upside, and in the high-powered Bills offense, he'd be unlikely to be phased out of the offense during even shootouts. Cook ended his holdout and signed an extension with the Bills, guaranteeing him a significant role in Buffalo's backfield. However, Davis should be rostered in most leagues, especially as a handcuff for Cook.

--John Johnson - RotoBaller

Jaylen Wright, Dolphins, Fantasy Football Outlook

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright was one of the biggest rookie busts last season when he failed to record a single game with double-digit fantasy points, and recorded a solitary performance over 4.0 PPR points. To put it mildly, he was a wasted draft pick in redraft leagues. Unfortunately, for Wright, 2025 is not projected to be much different.

Lead running back De'Von Achane is a one-man show, especially in the receiving game. He led the league at the position in receptions (78) and receiving yards (592), finished second in targets (87), and piled on 200+ carries on top of it. The Dolphins love their burners, and Wright fits right in with his 4.3 speed in the 40-yard dash, but Achane is too good for Wright to see any valuable playing time when healthy.

There is a chance Wright takes the short-yardage and goal-line work since he is bigger and outweighs Achane by over 20 pounds, but the uncertainty makes him nothing more than a late-round dart throw for managers who do not roster Achane. For those that do draft Achane, however, Wright is an elite handcuff option as he figures to see most of the work for the high-octane Miami offense if Achane goes down.

He has the explosive speed that could break the fantasy landscape if he gets the opportunity. The Dolphins brought in Alexander Mattison in free agency and drafted Ollie Gordon II in the sixth round of the NFL Draft, but the backup job should be Wright's to lose.

The 22-year-old is currently being drafted as the RB50, which aligns with his RotoBaller ranking of RB52. Given his raw speed and upside in that offense, it is hard to imagine not drafting him when managers are looking for lottery tickets at the end of their drafts.

--Frank Dyevoich - RotoBaller

Braelon Allen, Jets, Fantasy Football Outlook

Braelon Allen was selected by the Jets during Round 4 of the 2024 NFL Draft. That infused Allen into a depth chart that also contained Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis, who was also a member of the 2024 rookie class. Allen finished fourth among all first-year backs in attempts (91/5.4 per game) and was fifth in rushing yards (334/19.6 per game), although he averaged 3.6 yards per attempt.

Allen was also second on the Jets in red zone attempts (11), while accumulating 10 forced missed tackles and five explosive runs according to PFF. Allen was also third among rookie backs in routes run (136) and targets (27/1.6 per game). However, Allen did not establish himself as the Jets' RB2 behind Hall, as Davis also emerged in New York's backfield rotation.

Davis nearly matched Allen's snap share from Weeks 14-18 (28.0/27.4 percent). Both backs also carried 25 times during that sequence, and Davis easily led the tandem in yards per attempt (6.1/3.8). Touches could be distributed to Hall, Allen, and Davis in a redesigned offense under offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, and Allen's unpredictable role in New York's reshaped attack prevents you from targeting him as a handcuff.

It also restricts the expanded workload he would secure if Hall is forced to the sideline. That should encourage you to avoid selecting him before his current ADPs in best ball leagues (172/RB55) and dynasty startups (153/RB49)
