DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily College Fantasy Football Late Saturday Slate (9/27/25)

BYU Football Logo - College Football - NCAA Rankings

Mike Marteny's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the Saturday (9/27/25) late slate in Week 5. His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

Our late-night slate is light again this week, with many teams on bye and many West Coast teams heading east. Thanks to that, this slate starts so early that some normal people might participate with us. The more the merrier!

We begin in El Paso with the sudden CUSA favorite, Louisiana Tech, taking on UTEP. We close out the evening in Boulder with BYU taking on the Ralphies. Who's going to say no to a bear against a buffalo?

In this article, I will provide you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the late DraftKings slate on 9/27/25, starting at 9 pm Eastern. I’ll give multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Bear Bachmeier, BYU ($7.5K)

Bachmeier's ability to take care of the ball and BYU's willingness to keep the playbook simple have helped the Cougars control games. The Colorado defense has been marginally better than last year, but that's not saying much. There are still holes in this defense.

Georgia Tech found them with Haynes King. Bear seems to be in the same mold as King. He likes to take off and run around a bit. Colorado has been hit hard on deep passes, but that's not BYU's game. We saw the Cougars pepper the middle against ECU last week. Expect more of the same this week until Colorado stops it.

Malachi Nelson, UTEP ($7.1K)

The former golden boy had his best and his worst game concurrently last week against Louisiana-Monroe. He threw for a career-high 404 yards and three touchdowns, but he was also picked off twice for the second straight week. One of those was against Texas. We'll forgive that...but Monroe?

Nelson's two best games have come in the Sun Bowl. I expect another strong game out of him as UTEP continues to expand the passing game. Now, about those interceptions...

Also consider these QBs:

  • Blake Baker, Louisiana Tech ($7.8K)
  • Kaidon Salter, Colorado ($6.6K)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

LJ Martin, BYU ($7.4K)

BYU has made the power run game cool again. Martin is really hard to bring down. He rips off 40-yard runs like nothing. He has between 15 and 20 DraftKings points in every game so far. Sometimes, DFS players like to get cute on small slates and fade the popular plays.

If you elect for that strategy, I would move off another popular play other than Martin. His guaranteed production will sink you if you don't play him.

Omiri Wiggins, Louisiana Tech ($7K)

We will have to save money elsewhere because the UTEP run defense is the place to attack on this slate. The Miners have allowed 476 rushing yards in the last two games alone! Wiggins isn't the true bellcow for the Bulldogs, but he has out-touched the rest of the backfield by a large margin in the last two weeks.

Also consider these RBs

  • Hahsaun Wilson, UTEP ($5.3K)
  • Micah Welch, Colorado ($4.2K)
  • Clay Thevenin, Louisiana Tech ($3.6K)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Kenny Odom, UTEP ($6.2K)

How ironic is it that Nelson had a career day without his best receiver? Odom did suit up against Monroe but didn't play because of a shoulder injury against Texas. I think we'll see Odom this week. Odom has 19 catches in 2.5 games so far. He's the target hog on this UTEP offense, and I wouldn't be shocked if Nelson flirts with 400 again. UTEP is going to throw the ball around again.

Chase Roberts, BYU ($5.7K)

Roberts has been in lockstep with the true freshman QB over the last two games. Roberts has 10 receptions for 181 yards in the last two games. He'll find the end zone soon enough, especially if Colorado can clamp down on the rushing touchdowns.

Joseph Williams, Colorado ($4.5K)

Omarion Miller is the holdover from last year, but that also means that teams are keying on him. Williams has been able to get open in the meantime. He only has four catches in the last two games, but two have gone for touchdowns. Colorado's offense is kind of all over the place, but they have routinely looked for Williams as the big-play guy.

Trevon Tate, UTEP ($3.3K)

Tate caught six passes for 126 yards and a touchdown, including one on a 73-yard bomb with Kenny Odom out against Monroe. Wondame Davis Jr. showed up with another big day, but Tate looked more explosive. I think he serves as a better complement to Odom if Odom returns.

Also consider these WRs:

  • Omarion Miller, Colorado ($6.8K)
  • Eli Finley, Louisiana Tech ($5.1K)
  • Carsen Ryan, BYU ($4.1K)
  • Sincere Brown, Colorado ($3.8K)

DraftKings CFB Stacks

BYU vs. Colorado

The absence of Sione Moa will likely relegate any BYU stack to four players. No other back has gotten enough work behind LJ Martin to rely on. Bachmeier is essentially the goal-line back for the Cougars and the backup RB. One of Jovesa Damuni or Enoch Nawahine could have a big game backing up Martin, but good luck guessing which one.

I would rather toss in another receiver beside Roberts and Carsen Ryan to make a five-man, and hope that BYU opens up the playbook for Bachmeier a little more. Parker Kingston had a solid game last week, so he's a good option for the fifth. Almost no one will run a BYU five-man.

UTEP vs. Louisiana Tech

I have no issue running a Tech stack, but it's so difficult to deduce who is going to get the larger share of the offense. This team relies on defense and special teams more than offense. So, what do do...what to do.

Stack the other side! UTEP is going to have to throw early and often to have any chance of winning this game. Despite the two interceptions, there was some very good growth for Nelson last week, especially after losing some confidence against Texas. If Kenny Odom is back this week, I love both of them. If Odom is out again, run both Trevon Tate and Wondame Davis Jr. If Odom is back, Tate is the man to use with him.

Hahsaun Wilson is the wild card. It's hard to use him because UTEP's line hasn't opened any holes for him against FBS teams. However, UTEP got Wilson involved in the passing game last week. The Miners must do something to keep the teams off of Nelson. Finding some semblance of a run game would help.

Also consider these other stacks:

  • Louisiana Tech
  • Colorado (GPP only)
