Rex Burkhead 2021 Outlook: Journeyman Jack of All Trades At End of Road
4 years agoThe former special teamer, Rex Burkhead, carved out a nice role on the Patriots after leaving Cincinnati, having multiple bouts of fantasy relevance. Now 31 years old, Burkhead signed late in the offseason with the Texans, who seem to be actively trying to compile the worst roster possible. After trading DeAndre Hopkins to acquire David Johnson, who looked cooked in 2019, and watching DJ actually fare pretty well in 2020, the Texans spent much of the 2021 offseason searching for old, replacement level (or worse) running backs. The team added Phillip Lindsay, Mark Ingram, Dontrell Hilliard, and Burkhead. There is just no realistic scenario where Burkhead ends up seeing the field for any meaningful snaps. He will likely play on special teams, if at all. Burkhead does not need to be rostered in even the deepest of dynasty leagues.
