Mike's fantasy baseball waiver wire hitters to add as category boosters for Week 20 of 2025. His top hitters to pick up or stream for HR, RBI, SB, AVG, and runs.
Welcome back to our Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitters - Category Boosters column for Week 20 of the 2025 MLB season. We are in the thick of it now, and seasons can be won or lost with our waiver wire additions.
We are halfway into August now. Ratio categories can still be helped with good waiver wire additions. We always need counting stats, and there are players here who can help you with both situations. Read on and find players who can help your rosters.
We will aim to give you three options for each of the five offensive categories in a standard five-by-five league. Our rule: All hitters will be listed according to their percentage of rostered players on Yahoo!, with a maximum of 50 percent. Let's look at names that might be under the radar, but who can help you now.

Runs Scored (R) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Lenyn Sosa, 1B/2B/3B, Chicago White Sox (35% rostered)
As a die-hard White Sox fan, Sosa has grown on me this season. Eligible at three positions, he has found a home at second base recently with the injury to Chase Meidroth, and he has been hitting in the second spot in the order.
See below. Sosa is hitting .270 in August with four home runs and seven runs scored already, which puts him on track to have his best month in his career. Roster him now if you need help at any of these positions, as he is assured of daily playing time.
Noelvi Marte, 3B/OF, Cincinnati Reds (24% rostered)
Marte has long intrigued fantasy players with his combination of power and speed. He is capitalizing on that more now that he has recovered from his injury. Marte has been quietly holding down the sixth spot in the order and playing right field daily.
In a crowded lineup, Marte is playing and hitting .286 with eight home runs, 33 RBI, seven stolen bases, and 26 runs scored (five in the last week).
Luis Rengifo, 2B/3B, Los Angeles Angels (17% rostered)
Rengifo was drafted high in many leagues this year, and many players dropped him after a horrid start. He has had bad luck, too, with an expected .280 batting average only yielding .250. He is back playing daily at second or third base, and he has warmed up.
Since the All-Star break, Rengifo is hitting .307 with three home runs, eight RBI, two stolen bases, and 14 runs scored, with six of those in the last 10 games. Rengifo could be a sneaky add right now.
Home Runs (HR) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Colson Montgomery, 3B/SS, Chicago White Sox (39% rostered)
Montgomery continues to thrive on the game's biggest stage, hitting home runs in bunches. The rookie now has 10 home runs on the season, all since the All-Star break, and five in the last 10 days. If you need power, he's a great bet right now.
Matt Shaw, 2B/3B/SS, Chicago Cubs (36% rostered)
Shaw has not seen the playing time hit despite the addition of veteran Willi Castro to the Cubs roster at the trade deadline. His hitting has kept him in the lineup. Shaw has nine home runs and 14 stolen bases this season, with three of those in his last five starts.
Kyle Manzardo, 1B, Cleveland Guardians (15% rostered)
Manzardo is quietly putting a nice season together for the Guardians. Raise your hand if you knew the youngster had 21 home runs at this time. You can see his spray chart below, which illustrates his 24.2% pull percentage in the air.
Manzardo is hitting .360 in August with three home runs, all within the last week. If you need help at first base or a corner infield position, consider Manzardo this week.
Runs Batted In (RBI) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Spencer Steer, 1B/OF, Cincinnati Reds (45% rostered)
Steer has suffered a down year, but he has managed to knock in runs throughout the last few weeks. Steer has been moved recently to the second spot in the lineup, and that might help get him going more, while giving him more RBI opportunities.
Steer has never been a guy to hit for high average, but he has 15 RBI in 74 August at-bats, and that could be useful to your team in the right roster context.
Drake Baldwin, C, Atlanta Braves (26% rostered)
Baldwin has built a season that will get Rookie of the Year consideration in the National League. The catcher is hitting .289 with 13 home runs and 51 RBI for the Atlanta Braves. See his blood-red Statcast data below. He does everything well and should be rostered more.
Blaze Alexander, 2B/3B/SS, Arizona Diamondbacks (9% rostered)
Alexander has been considered a utility man in Arizona, yet the trade of Eugenio Suarez at the deadline opened up the starting third base job. He has seized the opportunity. He is hitting .371 in August with three home runs and eight RBI, with six of those RBI in his last four games.
If he continues to hit, Alexander should get the largest share of at-bats in Arizona the rest of the way. Add in eligibility at three of the four infield positions, and you have a useful player for many fantasy rosters.
Stolen Bases (SB) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Bryson Stott, 2B/SS, Philadelphia Phillies (50% rostered)
Stott is a much better player than he often gets credit for. On the waiver wire in many leagues, Stott has stolen three bases in his last seven starts. He's also hitting .421 in August after a tough July. The middle infield eligibility is also helpful right now.
Andres Gimenez, 2B, Toronto Blue Jays (32% rostered)
Gimenez is my spec pick for the week. Just back from the IL, his best offensive skill is stealing bases. For a Toronto team strongly in the mix for a playoff spot, it will need Gimenez to return to his thievery.
He will likely hit at the bottom of the order, but he could nab you some stolen bases down the stretch with a stealthy pickup this weekend. Gimenez has had three consecutive seasons of 20+ stolen bases since 2022. A small bid could net you meaningful results here.
Jakob Marsee, OF, Miami Marlins (30% rostered)
Marsee's calling card is speed, and he has stolen five bases since his recall from Triple-A. Marsee should continue to get playing time, even as we expect a regression in his hitting. His batting average right now is .382, and we know that cannot continue. Marsee looks comfortable in the six hole and should continue to run when on base. Grab him now.
Batting Average (AVG) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters
Isaac Collins, OF, Milwaukee Brewers (40% rostered)
People are starting to take Collins seriously, and I am pleased by that. He has been appearing in this article for weeks, and his roster share has grown significantly as he continues to be a productive cog in the sterling Milwaukee lineup.
Look below. The guy continues to hit. Such an impressive season for Collins, who should be in the Rookie of the Year conversation in the National League.
Ernie Clement, 1B/2B/3B/SS, Toronto Blue Jays (40% rostered)
Clement is splitting time at second and third base in Toronto, but he is swinging a hot bat and plays all over the field. He continues to play well, spending most of his time at third base. He is hitting .364 in August with four home runs, eight RBI, and 11 runs.
Clement doesn't have one huge skill, but the package is working in 2025. Roster him if you need help at any infield position, as he has eligibility at all four spots.
Miguel Andujar, 3B/OF, Cincinnati Reds (4% rostered)
Andujar has settled into the designated hitter slot while hitting cleanup in the Cincinnati order. He is hitting .348 in August, with two home runs in his last three starts. Andujar has also scored six runs in his last five starts. He could be valuable on the right roster.
