Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Jadarian Price, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks running back Jadarian Price (chest, shoulder) was limited in practice on Wednesday, according to John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site. Price was forced to leave Sunday's win over the Arizona Cardinals due to a chest injury. Head coach Mike Macdonald called it a shoulder injury on Monday. Regardless of what it is, Price is still dealing with the problem to begin the week.
The expectation is that his involvement in practice will ramp up as the week goes on. Zach Charbonnet (knee) won't be ready to play in time for the Week 3 matchup against the Washington Commanders. Emanuel Wilson and George Holani would likely split up the duties in the backfield if Price is unable to go. Fantasy managers should check back after Thursday's practice for another update on his status.
Denzel Boston, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Denzel Boston has moved beyond speculative-stash territory after another productive game. The rookie caught five of seven targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-19 win over Tampa Bay, giving him 154 yards and two scores through his first two NFL games. Boston also led Cleveland in routes, targets and receiving yards in Week 2, which makes the performance more interesting than simply chasing his 55-yard touchdown.
He drew only four targets in the opener, so the jump to seven is another encouraging sign. There is still some uncertainty with a rookie playing in an offense that may not support big receiving numbers every week, but Boston has already started both games and his role grew in Week 2. RotoBaller currently lists him as its top wide receiver waiver pickup and calls him a must-add.
Fantasy managers in leagues where Boston remains available should treat him as a priority claim rather than a long-term stash. He has plug-and-play upside in a Week 3 tilt against the Panthers.
J.K. Dobbins, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins (hamstring), who was pulled from the Week 2 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to hamstring cramping and did not return, was listed as limited for the first practice of the week on Wednesday, according to the team. RJ Harvey (hamstring), who was inactive on Sunday, was also limited, while rookie fourth-rounder Jonah Coleman (ankle) did not practice after taking over lead-back duties against the Jags in just his second NFL game.
Coleman became a popular waiver-wire pickup this week after he scored his first rushing touchdown in the team's home opener. Denver's backfield is now completely up in the air with all three backs injured, but there is optimism that Dobbins will be able to suit up this weekend on Sunday night against the visiting Los Angeles Rams.
With the Broncos' backfield picture hazy right now, it is hard to recommend Dobbins as anything more than an RB3/flex option coming off his hamstring injury. The 27-year-old's lengthy injury history and the Broncos' poor start on offense this year have not endeared Dobbins to many fantasy managers yet. He'll need to play better to hold off a healthy Coleman this year.
Tank Bigsby, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles running back Tank Bigsby has become one of the more interesting handcuffs on the Week 3 waiver wire. Saquon Barkley left Sunday's win over Tennessee with a stinger and is scheduled for an MRI Monday, leaving his status for next week uncertain.
Bigsby took advantage of the added work, carrying 13 times for 33 yards and a three-yard touchdown while catching two passes for five yards. Will Shipley was involved too and actually played more snaps, so Bigsby should not be viewed as a guaranteed three-down replacement if Barkley misses time.
Still, Bigsby led Philadelphia in carries and rushing yards after Barkley went down, and RotoBaller currently lists him as the preferred Eagles handcuff. With Barkley able to return briefly in the second half, Bigsby is better viewed as a top stash than a must-add everywhere for now. His value would enter borderline RB2 territory if Barkley cannot play in Week 3.
Breece Hall, New York Jets
New York Jets running back Breece Hall has gotten off to a strong start as the focus of the Jets' offense, which has looked much better with Geno Smith at quarterback this season. Hall took 22 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Titans. In Week 2, he didn't have nearly as much success on the ground, managing just 29 yards and 16 carries and losing a touchdown carry to Braelon Allen.
He still saved his fantasy day, though, with five catches on five targets for 63 yards against Green Bay. Hall's snap share went up in Week 2, when he logged 65% of snaps, and he remains the clear No. 1 RB ahead of Allen, even though Allen does work in at times. In a much-improved offense, Hall looks like he can be a rise to the point of being a reliable weekly fantasy starter again this season and carries weekly high-end RB2 upside.
