Should I pickup Luther Burden III or Colston Loveland as fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 14 of 2025? Read our fantasy football waiver wire outlooks.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze (foot) has been struggling production-wise for the past few weeks. He's had some solid games, but those have been mixed in with awful performances, including a 0.0 PPR fantasy point game in Week 9 against a week Cincinnati Bengals defense.
Odunze's early-season tear gave way to major inconsistency, but it's inarguable that he was targeted quite heavily in this passing offense. His absence means the passing volume simply has to go elsewhere, and there's enough of it that it should have a major effect for fantasy football.
While wide receivers D.J. Moore and Olamide Zaccheaus might see more targets, rookies Luther Burden III and Colston Loveland, the team's first two draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, also stand to benefit. So should you pick up Burden or Loveland off waivers ahead of Week 14?

Luther Burden III Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Burden is the most efficient Bears receiver in quite a few categories. He has the best yards per route run, yards per target over expectation, yards after catch per reception, and yards per target numbers, among other things. The issue is simply that he hasn't been fed the ball enough.
It makes sense for teams to want to work their rookies in slowly, but Burden's efficiency and draft capital have seemed to suggest that he should be getting more work than he's currently getting. It's been a very slow progression for him, with the Bears stubbornly keeping Zaccheaus heavily involved.

It would be REALLY NICE if Bears head coach Ben Johnson would stop being so cautious with his usage and start feeding him generously. He's made great strides with his route-running and is an excellent talent after the catch. My analysis indicated that he was drafted as a major yards-after-catch threat specifically because Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was so inaccurate.
Williams has a sub-60% completion percentage (that's bad) and is very inaccurate downfield (that's also really bad) so Burden is an excellent candidate to start actually getting eight or more targets per game. Chicago has a low-volume passing offense, unfortunately.
Colston Loveland Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Loveland also stands to get more work from this absence. He doesn't typically play outside, like Odunze does, though. It seems like Burden and Moore will be the team's primary outside receivers. But it makes sense to get him more involved as a pass-catcher.
He started off the season slow. My analysis indicates that that's absolutely not his fault. He was a fantastic receiver in college, but had shoulder surgery before the 2025 NFL season, missed training camp, and dealt with a hip injury earlier in the season. That's a lot to deal with in your first season of pro football.
I noted Colston Loveland's absurd catch radius back in March. It's a perfect fit for Caleb Williams' accuracy issues. Loveland is the ideal target in the intermediate areas of the field on the Bears offense. pic.twitter.com/fspXtKcwew

Loveland, like Burden, has talents that make it seem like he's a great fit for this team. He has an absurd catch radius, standing at 6-foot-6 and having long arms, and he uses every bit of that radius to make tough catches. His route-running ability is also elite for his size.
That makes him a huge mismatch weapon -- he's too quick for linebackers to cover well and far too big and physical for cornerbacks to cover. His targets haven't been elite or anything, but averaging between six and seven a game in the contests Odunze misses is reasonable, and would make him a great starting option.
Should I Pickup Luther Burden III or Colston Loveland For Fantasy Football?
They play at two different positions. Burden, to me, is a must-add, but with Loveland, it just depends on who else you have on your roster. The flexibility of being able to slot in Burden in a WR or flex spot is nice. Loveland in the flex spot makes a bit less sense.
So if you already have a good tight end, you might not need to use a roster spot on Loveland. But if you don't, or you have someone like San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle on bye this week, it would be worth picking him up and starting him.
