DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily College Fantasy Football (8/24/24)

Preston Stone - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NCAA College Football, QB Prospects

Mike's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for Saturday (8/24/24). His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

Welcome back, my friends! It has been a long, cold, dreary eight months without college football. The landscape has changed a lot over the last few months, but we here at RotoBaller will still be around all season long with DFS picks for every slate and every college football game picked against the spread. Where else are you going to find that?

Week 0 this year is a giant letdown after last year's eight games. We only have four games on tap this year. One of them is so bad that DraftKings left it off the slate entirely and only two of them are FBS vs. FBS games. Since I only have two picks to make against the spread, I will do them in this article. Thanks guys. Eight months of waiting for this? You should be ashamed of yourselves for this (and a myriad of other reasons).

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 8/24/24, locking at noon Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

Week 0 Picks Against The Spread

(10) Florida State (-10.5) vs. Georgia Tech at Dublin, Ireland (4):

Really? Haynes King led the Wreck to six wins last year, a bowl win against Central Florida, and they only lost to Georgia by eight points. Meanwhile, Florida State lost damn near everything from last year's team that should have made the playoff.

DJ Uiagalelei might be that guy, but he won't be in Week 0. The Wreck return King at QB, leading rusher Jamal Haynes (1,059 yards), and both starting receivers (Eric Singleton Jr. and Malik Rutherford). Not only that but the two leading tacklers are back from last year's defense. The Seminoles aren't covering this.

SMU (-24.5) at Nevada (2):

Wow, that's a lot of points. It is warranted, though. Brendon Lewis was unequivocally awful last year for the Pack and Boston College transfer Pat Garwo III can't make up for everything. I'll take the Ponies and lower the bet.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Preston Stone, SMU ($8.9K)

Stone likely won't play much in the second half of this one, but he should do enough damage early in the game to make him worth our while. Georgia Tech only allowed one 300-yard game last year (to Drake Maye), so it's easy to pass on DJ for Stone here, even if Stone only plays three quarters.

Haynes King, Georgia Tech ($7.1K)

Look, any guy that can put up 20+ DraftKings points on the 2023 Georgia defense is good enough for me to use in any game. FSU's defense will be good once again, but Jared Verse isn't there anymore. King's ability to create outside the pocket will be a big asset in this game. I won't be shocked if he is the highest-scoring quarterback.

Also consider: Tommy Mellott, Montana State ($7K); Devon Dampier, New Mexico ($6.1K)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Jaylan Knighton, SMU ($6.6K)

The Seminoles will have a split backfield again this year, but no one knows what the split will be between Lawrance Toafili and Alabama transfer Roydell Williams. One or both of them may have good games, but I know that Knighton could have a huge afternoon against the Pack before he departs.

Andrew Henry, New Mexico ($5.7K)

Henry finished last season with 147 yards over the last two games as the starting back for the Lobos. He should have some room to run on Montana State but don't expect a slate-breaking performance. The Lobos might be worse than the Bobcats...

Also consider: Lawrance Toafili, Florida State ($7.7K); Jamal Haynes, Georgia Tech ($6.3K); Scottre Humphrey, Montana State ($4.6K)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Malik Benson, Florida State ($7K)

The Alabama transfer is the best receiver on the slate by a large margin. SMU has some secondary receivers from last year, but until one emerges as the alpha, I'm good with Benson. He has the most upside on the slate.

RJ Maryland, SMU ($5.4K)

Maryland became one of the premier tight ends in college last year, which is saying a lot considering the tight-end talent that went in the NFL Draft. The son of former Pro Bowler Russell Maryland is a star in his own right in the city in which his dad made a name for himself.

Maryland is the most experienced SMU receiver. His time played with Stone should shine through early on in the season.

Ty McCullouch, Montana State ($4.9K)

McCullouch is the most successful returning receiver on this slate. That should count for something against a New Mexico team that allowed 235.3 passing yards per game last year and only picked off four passes all season. I'm going with the veteran of the system here.

Also consider: Jordan Hudson, SMU ($6K); Malik Rutherford, Georgia Tech ($5.2K); Cortez Braham Jr., Nevada ($4.7K)

DraftKings CFB Stacks:

SMU:

This should go without saying. I prefer the entrenched pieces (Stone, Knighton, and Maryland) but some backups such as LJ Johnson Jr. and Moochie Dixon could be nice plays as they pack on stats later in the game.

Montana State

Tommy Mellott ran for 714 yards in nine games last year to go with his 1,064 passing yards. He won't be splitting time with Sean Chambers this year. This job is all his! Start with Mellott and fill this out with leading returning rusher Scottre Humphrey and McCullouch. Lonyatta Alexander Jr. is listed as the starting receiver opposite McCullouch for you adventurous types.

Also consider: New Mexico, Florida State
