Jaccob Slavin Remains Sidelined Saturday
Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin (undisclosed) stayed off the ice on Saturday. He hasn't yet skated during training camp. "He trains pretty hard in the summer, and he was feeling a little sore," Hurricanes head coach Brind'Amour said Thursday. "Until he says he's 100 percent, we're not going to put him out there." Brind'Amour didn't seem worried about Slavin's status for the start of the season, so it appears the Hurricanes are just being extra cautious with him. Slavin plays a crucial role on defense for Carolina, although his game doesn't translate well to fantasy hockey. The American blue-liner finished last season with 27 points (six goals, 21 assists), 110 shots, 136 blocks, and a plus-16 rating in 80 contests.
