Odubel Herrera The Odd Man Out On Opening Day
7 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera is not in the starting lineup on Opening Day on Thursday. Manager Gabe Kapler said he considered the matchups, starter Aaron Nola as a ground-ball pitcher and the upcoming matchups in his decision not to start Herrera. Aaron Altherr gets the nod instead in center field for the opener, and Kapler has disclosed his plan to rotate all four of his outfielders, including Rhys Hoskins and Nick Williams, to get them all as much playing time as possible. Herrera's fantasy stock was down entering 2018 after stealing just eight bags in 2017, and this news doesn't help matters.
