Myles Gaskin 2022 Outlook - Part Of A Crowded Backfield With Limited Upside
3 years agoMiami Dolphins running back Myles Gaskin had a forgettable season in 2021, as he finished the year with 173 rush attempts for 612 yards (3.5 YPC) and 49 receptions for 234 yards while adding seven total touchdowns. This was good for just 10.2 fantasy points per game despite finishing eighth in receptions and 14th in routes run among running backs. Poor offensive line play and a struggling offensive unit as a whole made it a challenge for Gaskin to get anything going on the ground, as did the fact that he saw his role diminish in the later parts of the season. The 25-year-old didn't play over 40% of the snaps a single time in the last four games, as he saw snap percentages of 36%, 31%, 23%, and 8% to finish the season. Based on what we saw to close out the 2021 season, it wasn't a surprise that the Dolphins brought in Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert, and Sony Michel to the backfield. The Miami offense figures to be run-heavy under new head coach Mike McDaniel, but a crowded running back room makes it hard to envision Gaskin having any fantasy relevance unless someone ahead of him misses time. The former seventh-round draft pick can be left on waivers in conventional-sized leagues to begin the 2022 campaign.
