Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 5:
Tre Tucker, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker should see more targets in Week 5, but his fantasy value remains volatile against a tough Patriots defense. Jalen Nailor (concussion) is out for Sunday's game and Jack Bech (forearm) is still sidelined, which should translate to more work for Tucker. However, the fourth-year wideout has been inconsistent at best this season, and caught just half of his targets for 44 yards in Week 4 against the Chiefs.
With tight ends Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer absorbing the target share from Kirk Cousins, Tucker could struggle against a New England defense allowing just 189.8 yards per game and five touchdowns through Week 4. Tucker is a bench option in fantasy leagues with 12-plus teams, but he doesn't produce enough to be a starting option against a tough defense.
MarShawn Lloyd, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd rushed seven times for 13 yards against Tampa Bay. He was more effective as a receiver, catching all five of his targets for 36 yards. Lloyd finished with 12 touches while playing 55% of the offensive snaps, his largest role of the season. Chris Brooks (ankle) is out for Week 5, which could open more work for Lloyd and Kaleb Johnson.
Green Bay also added Pierre Strong Jr. to the active roster, keeping another back in the rotation. Lloyd has averaged fewer than three yards per carry through four games, so his work in the passing game has become an important part of his fantasy value. His five receptions against Tampa Bay give him some PPR appeal even without a clear lead role. RotoBaller ranks Lloyd RB39 for Week 5, making him a deep-league Flex option against Chicago.
Jauan Jennings, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings has handled a sizable snap share throughout the last two weeks, peaking with a 95% snap share in Week 4. Yet, he has continued to underperform on offense, catching just two passes across those two games. It has been disappointing to see him have so much trouble producing, especially given how much the Raiders are actively in search of an upgrade at the position.
In other words, there was a direct path to production for Jennings, and he failed to seize it. With that being said, we don't expect much to change in Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints. The 29-year-old can be avoided in most fantasy leagues this week, due to both his season stats so far and the fact that New Orleans has ranked slightly stronger than league average in terms of receiving production allowed.
Jeremiyah Love, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love (ankle) was limited in practice this week while managing ankle discomfort stemming from Week 4's loss to the New York Giants. Love got a full session in on Friday, though, and does not have a designation for the Cardinals' Week 5 meeting with the Detroit Lions. Love is in a good spot to take another step forward in the first weeks of his NFL career.
Love has not scored since his debut in Week 1, but in the last two weeks he has compiled 164 yards from scrimmage on 35 carries and six receptions. Tyler Allgeier may siphon off more work in light of Love's ankle discomfort, but Love himself should be effective against a Lions defense that gave up 122 rushing yards and two touchdowns to Chuba Hubbard in Week 4. Love is projected as an RB2 and should be in starting lineups for Week 5.
Chase Brown, Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown should be ready to get a large volume of touches as the Bengals head to Miami to face the Dolphins. Brown had an inefficient day on the ground last week, rushing nine times for just 10 yards in the 17-22 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The back salvaged his fantasy day with elite usage through the air, catching 11 passes for 71 yards on 11 targets.
Things should be easier for him as the Bengals take on one of the league's worst defenses in Week 5. The Dolphins defense has not been able to stop anyone on the ground or through the air so, it should be smooth sailing for Brown this weekend. Brown could also benefit from the absence of Ja'Marr Chase or Tee Higgins due to injury, opening up more opportunities for fantasy success.
Brown is ranked RB5 in our RotoBaller Week 5 PPR rankings, making him a strong start at the position. Fantasy managers should start Brown with confidence this week despite his slow start to the season.
