Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitters - Category Boosters for HR, SB, RBI, AVG, Runs (Week 23)

Sal Frelick - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers

Mike's fantasy baseball waiver wire hitters to add as category boosters for Week 23 of 2025. His top hitters to pick up or stream for HR, RBI, SB, AVG, and runs.

Welcome back to our Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitters - Category Boosters column for Week 23 of the 2025 MLB season. We are in the thick of it now, and seasons can be won or lost with our waiver wire additions.

There are only a few weeks left to impact the standings in your leagues. What do you need to challenge for the title? Precious few opportunities remain for you to add impact bats that can help you get that flag this season.

We will aim to give you three options for each of the five offensive categories in a standard five-by-five league. Our rule: All hitters will be listed according to their percentage of rostered players on Yahoo!, with a maximum of 50 percent. Let's look at names that might be under the radar, but who can help you now.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball draft tools and resources:

Runs Scored (R) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters

Josh Lowe, OF, Tampa Bay Rays (40% rostered)

Lowe has had three multi-hit games over the last week, and with that, he has scored eight runs in the process. He's hitting .283 with two home runs, five RBI, and five stolen bases over that time. Finally healthy, he is an under-the-radar player who can help you win.

Jeremiah Jackson, SS/OF, Baltimore Orioles (23% rostered)

Jackson has been a hot name on the waiver wire this past week, hitting three home runs, knocking in eight runs, and scoring seven (15 in the last month) while hitting .355. He also has dual eligibility at shortstop and outfield, so he helps in that regard.

Jackson is making a case to become part of the Orioles' talented young core for 2026, but if he stays hot, he can help you capture a flag this season. Grab him this weekend before you can't get him anymore.

Lars Nootbaar, OF, St. Louis Cardinals (20% rostered)

Besides having one of the most fun names in the history of baseball, Nootbaar can play, and now he is healthy again. Inserted at the top of the St. Louis order, Nootbaar has 11 hits this week and has scored four runs in the process.

Home Runs (HR) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters

Trent Grisham, OF, New York Yankees (42% rostered)

Grisham just keeps hitting home runs, including two grand slams this past week. I didn't have Grisham with 29 home runs this season on my bingo card, did you? The outfielder has eight home runs over the last two weeks. Need power? He is available in most Yahoo leagues.

Colson Montgomery, 3B/SS, Chicago White Sox (37% rostered)

I was softly accused last week of being a homer pick for Montgomery, but please put my fandom aside and look at the facts. The youngster has homered six times in the last two weeks and now has 16 on the season.

Recall, he only came up the week before the All-Star break, so all of those home runs have been hit in a span of 175 plate appearances. He is only hitting .230, and the strikeouts are there, but if you need power from a corner or middle infielder, snap up Montgomery.

Blaze Alexander, 2B/3B/SS, Arizona Diamondbacks (21% rostered)

Alexander has played well as the Diamondbacks have fought to stay in the playoff race despite a slew of injuries to their core players. Alexander is making a strong case for a larger role in 2026. He has two more homers this week, pushing his total to seven on the season.

While it looks on paper that Jordan Lawlar will get at-bats at third base, manager Torey Lovullo gave Alexander a start in center field this week. The news that Lourdes Gurriel Jr. tore his ACL and will miss the rest of this year and much of 2026 opens playing time for Alexander.

Runs Batted In (RBI) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters

Royce Lewis, 3B, Minnesota Twins (45% rostered)

If you had told me two years ago of the struggles that Lewis would have to stay healthy and productive, I would not have believed you. Lewis has six RBI in his last five starts and has three two-hit games over the last week. He's worth rostering right now.

Lewis also has five home runs in the last two weeks, so he is showing signs of breaking out of his 2025 doldrums and being a productive player down the stretch.

Drake Baldwin, C, Atlanta Braves (24% rostered)

Baldwin is in the thick of the National League Rookie of the Year race, and looking at his stats, you can see why. Look at his Statcast data below; he does everything well. Baldwin hit .284 with four homers and 21 RBI in August. He should be rostered in most leagues.

Kyle Manzardo, 1B, Cleveland Guardians (14% rostered)

With the release of Carlos Santana (the first baseman, not the legendary guitarist), Manzardo has a clear shot to finally get the everyday at-bats he needs to prove himself. He has quietly put up 24 home runs this year for Cleveland.

The thing is, he barrels the baseball (12.5%) and hits it on the sweet spot (38.4%). Manzardo needs to cut the 26.2% K%, but he has knocked in six runs over the last week while also hitting three homers. This is a guy who could help you down the stretch.

Stolen Bases (SB) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters

Isaac Collins, OF, Milwaukee Brewers (18% rostered)

Yes, Collins appears on this list again. He has cooled recently, but he is still getting on base, and when he does, he will run. Collins continues to play daily, and he has two consecutive months (see below) where he has stolen four bases; he also hit a solid .273 with 19 RBI in August.

Hyeseong Kim, 2B/SS/OF, Los Angeles Dodgers (7% rostered)

This is a speculative play as he comes off the injured list. Why am I interested? Well, Max Muncy is still on the shelf, and the Dodgers are basically holding tryouts all month for a spot on the playoff roster. I am not sure where he will play, but when he does, he will run.

Austin Martin, OF, Minnesota Twins (1% rostered)

Martin is a jack-of-all-trades, playing multiple positions, and he has speed in his toolkit. With a reeling Minnesota team giving opportunities out, look for Martin to continue to play around the field and steal bases when he gets on.

Martin has six stolen bases in 28 games, and has stolen double-digit bases every year he has played in the minor leagues. Could be a good speculative pick here.

Batting Average (AVG) - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Boosters

Sal Frelick, Milwaukee Brewers (43% rostered)

Frelick is a huge piece of the Milwaukee Brewers' success this season, and he's been hitting all season. He's hitting .298 with 10 home runs and 19 steals, and hit a robust .315 in August when others on the team had slowed down.

Josh Jung, 3B, Texas Rangers (38% rostered)

Jung is back and healthy, seeking to prove he is the long-term answer at third base for a reconstructing Texas team. Jung has been a forgotten commodity in many fantasy leagues due to his injury issues, making him unavailable to play for long stretches.

But quietly, he has been hitting well. Jung hit a solid .296 in August to lift his season batting average to .259 for the season. You can see below that he has been hitting the fastball exceptionally well. Jung might be a sneaky pick to help you chase a championship.

Luis Matos, San Francisco Giants (10% rostered)

Matos brings a blend of speed and power to the game, and he now has an opportunity with San Francisco essentially eliminated from postseason play. Matos hit .415 in 44 August plate appearances and also slugged three home runs. He should play every day.

I hope this helps you out! Good luck and happy hunting, RotoBallers! You can always message me @mdrc0508 on X to complain about my picks or make other suggestions!
