Raiders Releasing Michael Crabtree
7 years agoThe Oakland Raiders are releasing wide receiver Michael Crabtree on Thursday, according to a source. While it's not official yet, this likely means Oakland will be signing free-agent receiver Jordy Nelson to take Crabtree's place as the main red-zone weapon for quarterback Derek Carr. While Crabtree posted 16 touchdowns in the last two seasons, he fell off dramatically in 2017 (58 catches, 618 yards) and fell out of favor with the new coaching staff under head coach Jon Gruden. The 30-year-old veteran should latch on quickly with another organization, where he'll mainly be a touchdown-dependent receiver.
