Mason Thompson to Begin Rehab Assignment on Tuesday
Mason Thompson (elbow) will start a minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Double-A Harrisburg. Thompson pitched in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Saturday but will officially begin his rehab assignment this week as he continues his lengthy recovery from Tommy John surgery in March of 202. Barring a setback in the minors, it's possible that the 27-year-old will be ready to return to the Nats' bullpen early in the second half of the season. In 2022 and 2023 in D.C., Thompson posted a 4.69 ERA (4.07 FIP) with a 1.42 WHIP, two saves, 59 strikeouts and 31 walks in 78 2/3 innings over 75 outings in relief. The former third-rounder by the San Diego Padres will remain off the fantasy radar whenever he makes his 2025 season debut.
