Is J.K. Dobbins out for the season? When is J.K. Dobbins coming back? The latest J.K. Dobbins injury update and fantasy football outlook heading into Week 14 of 2025.
Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins (foot) got injured in his team's Week 10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
He was having what looked like a resurgent season, averaging over five yards per carry and handling the majority of the team's rushing workload. That quickly came to a grinding halt.
Now, his return is in doubt. It's a brutal break for a player who's dealt with far too many ailments in his career, including devastating season-ending injuries. But will this one be a season-ender?

Is J.K. Dobbins Out for the 2025 Season?
It looks like it will be. Dobbins suffered a Lisfranc injury on a hip-drop tackle late in the game against the Raiders. He publicly expressed his frustration in a post on X about the NFL refusing to throw flags for a play it had expressly banned, and it was hard to blame him.
You can see a video of the play below. It's clear that the defender who tackles him lands on the back of his ankle and foot and causes it to bend too far. He opted to have surgery to correct the issue, as it was likely necessary to help him continue his career and live without pain or crippling disability moving forward.

He was placed on injured reserve, and he's set to miss the rest of the season. There's a slim possibility he could return for the Super Bowl, but that's even if the Broncos make it there. They've had struggles on offense, but their elite defense is carrying them to the playoffs, and it remains to be seen how far they'll go.
J.K. Dobbins 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
There isn't an outlook for this point any more. Perhaps if he plays in the Super Bowl he could have a nice game, but that's irrelevant for most fantasy football leagues. There are some fantasy platforms that allow you to play through the playoffs, but they're much less commonly used.
Dobbins wasn't exactly a fantasy stud when he was playing, though, even though he was highly efficient. He hardly handled pass-catching work and only scored four rushing touchdowns in ten games. The team didn't have an explosive offense, and most of its TDs came through the air, anyway.
It's very difficult for RBs to be productive in fantasy without either, and Dobbins might not even be with the Broncos next year, despite his big workload this season that resulted in plenty of nice plays. He was clearly leaned on as the primary in-between-the-tackles runner, with rookie RB RJ Harvey playing a much smaller role.

Dobbins probably won't be a fantasy stud in the future, unless he takes over for an injured RB on another team. Even if Denver re-signs him, it's unlikely that he'll handle much pass-catching work. He was the 24th-ranked running back in PPR points per game in his starting stint.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton runs a committee backfield that makes it hard for their RBs to produce fantasy relevant scores on their own. Dobbins and Harvey both had good weeks, but were poor starts most of the rest of the season. So Dobbins is little more than a low-end flex starter if Denver brings him back.

If he joins another team, we won't really know. Perhaps he can get more of a pass-catching role somewhere else or land on an offense that scores more rushing touchdowns. We'll have to see. But unfortunately, it's time to drop him in fantasy leagues this year -- he'll spend the rest of the fantasy season recovering from his surgery.
Harvey has a nice role now -- one that netted him over 20 PPR fantasy points in Week 13. But that role wouldn't be Dobbins' even if he came back -- Harvey would still handle plenty of pass-catching work. Maybe if you're in some kind of fantasy football competition that includes NFL playoff games has a non-PPR scoring format, Dobbins could have some value.
That's about the only situation in which Dobbins would be useful this season.
