Jason Sanders, Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders (hip) is expected to miss the first four to five weeks of the season due to a hip injury, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Dolphins will now look for a new kicker for the start of the 2025 season. It's unknown at this time if Sanders will be placed on short-term Injured Reserve, which would require him to miss at least the first four games of the season.

The 29-year-old will not need surgery and will be able to return at some point this year. With the news of Sanders' multi-week injury, fantasy managers can now safely remove him from their draft boards in 2025. In a Dolphins offense that took a step back last year, Sanders actually finished as the No. 8 fantasy kicker by making 37 of his 41 field-goal attempts while also converting on 26 of his 28 extra-point opportunities in 17 regular-season starts.

Eddy Pineiro, Free Agent

The Miami Dolphins worked out free-agent kicker Eddy Pineiro on Tuesday, a source tells Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports. The Dolphins are looking for a new kicker to begin the 2025 regular season after they announced on Monday that Jason Sanders (hip) will be out for the next four to five weeks with a hip injury. The 29-year-old Pineiro has been solid in his five NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and Carolina Panthers, making 88.1 percent of his 126 field-goal attempts, including going 11-for-14 from 50-plus yards out. He spent the last three years in Carolina, going 80-for-90 on field-goal tries and 80-for-87 on his extra points in 49 games. Pineiro has been productive the last three seasons, but if he signs with Miami and opens the year as their starting kicker, he'll be a deep-league kicking streamer, at best.

Andy Borregales, New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have named rookie Andy Borregales their starting kicker for 2025 after releasing Parker Romo on Tuesday. A sixth-round draft pick, Borregales arrives from Miami (FL), where he built a strong collegiate résumé by converting 74 of 86 field goals, including an impressive 18-for-19 mark in 2024. While he showed some inconsistency during the preseason, the Patriots are committing to him as their long-term option at the position. New England will be counting on Borregales' leg to stabilize special teams and provide reliability in tight games throughout the season.

Nick Folk, New York Jets

The New York Jets signed free-agent kicker Nick Folk to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to head coach Aaron Glenn. The Jets waived kicker Caden Davis on Tuesday, so Folk's primary competition for the kicking job in New York will be UFL standout Harrison Mevis. The 40-year-old Folk will reunite with the Jets after kicking for them from 2010 to 2016.

He spent the last two years with the Tennessee Titans and went 21-for-22 on his field-goal tries while making all 25 of his extra-point attempts in 14 games in 2024. As long as Folk doesn't really struggle or get injured in training camp and the preseason in his return to the Jets, he should be the favorite to win the job over Mevis. Heading into his 18th NFL season, Folk has a career 84.3% success rate on 479 field-goal attempts, including going 47-for-70 from 50-plus yards.

Evan McPherson, Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evan McPherson converted all six of his field-goal attempts on Sunday to continue a spotless training camp. McPherson is off to an 18-for-18 start this summer as he looks to leave an underwhelming 2024 season behind him. After beginning his career with a productive three-year run, McPherson went backward last season in making just 16 of 22 field goals (72.7%), though he did knock in all but one of his 38 extra-point tries.

The 26-year-old missed the Bengals' final five games because of a groin injury, but he has bounced back nicely from it so far. As part of a team with a high-powered offense, McPherson should get plenty of opportunities this year. He's RotoBaller's eighth-ranked kicker heading into the 2025 campaign.

Dustin Hopkins, Free Agent

The Cleveland Brown released kicker Dustin Hopkin on Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. It appears that Andre Szmyt will open the 2025 regular season as the team's placekicker, although the Browns could still bring in more competition before Week 1. Hopkins will be let go after spending the last two seasons kicking for Cleveland, where he went 51-for-63 on his field-goal attempts (81%) and 41-for-46 on his extra-point tries in 31 total games. The final straw for the 34-year-old veteran might have been when he missed one of his two extra-point tries in the preseason finale on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams. Hopkins entered training camp on shaky ground at the position after going 18-for-27 on his field goals in 16 games a year ago.

Ryan Fitzgerald, Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers kicker Ryan Fitzgerald has won the kicking job after the team released Matthew Wright, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. The undrafted rookie out of Florida State went 3-for-3 on field goals and also converted his lone extra point attempt through three preseason games.

He enjoyed similar success at school, going 13-for-13 on field goals during his final collegiate campaign in 2024. Although the Panthers' offense is trending up, Fitzgerald lacks fantasy appeal at the moment, especially as a rookie with no track record kicking at the professional level.

Matthew Wright, Free Agent

Carolina Panthers kicker Matthew Wright has been released, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. As a result, rookie Ryan Fitzgerald has won the kicking job. Wright failed to convert his only field goal attempt of the season, missing wide from 55 yards out. No stranger to being an NFL journeyman, Wright played for six organizations over five seasons, including three teams in 2024. He made 15 of his 16 field goal attempts last year. Now, he will proceed to search for a kicking job elsewhere, perhaps adding another team to his resume.
