Fantasy Baseball Trade Outlooks
Below are some fantasy baseball outlooks written by our MLB team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy baseball analysis and advice on which players to consider trading for or trading away heading into Week 8:
JJ Bleday, OF, Cincinnati Reds
Trade Value: 3
ROS Rank: 288
Something has clicked for outfielder JJ Bleday since joining the Cincinnati Reds. In 16 games with the team, Bleday has gone 17-for-53 (.321) with six home runs, 18 RBI, 10 runs scored, one steal, 13 walks, and 10 strikeouts across 66 plate appearances. In his first four MLB seasons with the Miami Marlins and Athletics, the left-handed-hitting outfielder slashed just .215/.307/.394 with a .702 OPS and 49 home runs across 404 games played.
The 28-year-old's assault on opposing pitchers continued in Thursday's 15-1 rout of the Washington Nationals, when he went 3-for-5 at the plate with two more home runs and six RBI. Bleday, a former fourth overall pick out of Vanderbilt, is red-hot right now with Cincy and will continue to play regularly in a hitter-friendly home environment as long as he continues to produce.
Fantasy managers who need power production should be looking his way, if even for just a short amount of time until he cools off. Bleday is currently rostered in only 27% of Yahoo leagues. He's gone 7-for-13 with 11 RBI in the last four games.
Verdict: Emerging as a top buy-high target. Bleday is making the necessary adjustments to hold must-start status for the remainder of the season.
Tanner Scott, RP, Los Angeles Dodgers
Trade Value: 28
ROS Rank: 98
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Tanner Scott opened 2026 in a setup role, but early-season elbow surgery for Dodgers closer Edwin Diaz (elbow) has reopened the path to the ninth inning for Scott. The veteran left-hander has recorded four saves since Diaz was placed on the injured list, including three in his last five appearances.
Scott's overall numbers for the season are strong as well, as he's pitched to a 1.47 ERA and 0.60 WHIP with 18 strikeouts across 18 1/3 innings. Scott's 24.6% K-BB rate is excellent, and he's allowed just 11 out of the 65 batters he's faced so far this season to reach base. With Diaz expected to be sidelined until the late summer at the earliest, Scott is a must-roster closer across all fantasy formats.
Verdict: Even though Edwin Diaz's return is looming, Scott will hold high-end closer value for the foreseeable future.
Corey Seager, SS, Texas Rangers
Trade Value: 30
ROS Rank: 94
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (back) was absent from the starting lineup for the third straight game on Sunday. The team is still calling the injury minor, but Seager did undergo an MRI over the weekend.
Seager is now heading back to Arlington to see a back specialist about his injury. With that being said, Seager won't be available for the first game of the series in Colorado, starting on Monday. Ezequiel Duran has made multiple starts at shortstop and figures to continue holding down the fort until Seager is ready to return. Fantasy managers will need to check back for another update on Seager, but he'll likely still miss a few more games.
Verdict: While his slower start and recent injury is concerning, Seager still holds high-end long-term value and could be had at a very low cost on the trade market.
Zack Gelof, 2B/OF, Athletics
Trade Value: 1
ROS Rank: N/A
Since being recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on April 10, Athletics infielder Zack Gelof has re-emerged as an everyday piece of his team's lineup. Across 85 plate appearances, the 26-year-old is hitting .260/.313/.506 with five home runs, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored, and two stolen bases. Gelof has always offered high-end power upside, and he's posted a strong 10.2% barrel rate so far in 2026.
The main difference for Gelof this season has been his ability to make consistent contact, as his 23.5% strikeout rate is significantly improved from his career mark of 32.5%. Given his history of swing-and-miss issues and his 19.2-degree average launch angle, fantasy managers may not want to count on Gelof continuing to provide value in the batting average category. Still, Gelof profiles as a power/speed asset with upside who should be a priority waiver wire target in most league formats.
Verdict: Like Bleday, Gelof is emerging as not only a top waiver wire target but a viable "buy-high" trade target. If Gelof continues this trajectory, he could see his fantasy value continue to increase on a weekly basis.
Fantasy Baseball Trade Rankings Values
The higher the Trade Value number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Find your players, add up the trade values of each side of the offer, and see which side of the trade wins.
Who Should I Trade For?
Week 8 Trade Decisions. Today's focus is on specific players - Bubba Chandler, Corey Seager, Zack Gelof, JJ Bleday, Tanner Scott, Chris Sale, Geraldo Perdomo. These are some key fantasy baseball names heading into this week's matchups.
Using The Trade Values. This is a simple trade value tool, but very powerful. In our fantasy baseball trade value rankings above, you will see the Trade Value for each player. The higher the number, the higher the priority for targeting in trades. Players with a high trade value number are players that you should be targeting more in trades.
How It Works. Each week, our RotoBaller staff puts together their weekly fantasy baseball rankings, projections, and trade values based on their research. That information is the core data that is powering the decision-making in this trade value rankings.
How To Calculate Trades. Fantasy baseball managers will make 1-for-1 trades, or 2-for-3 trades, or 3-for-2 trades, or many other combinations. For each side of the deal, add the trade values together. Whichever side has a higher total number wins the trade. For example, if someone is offering you three players, add the trade values of those three players together. Does the value of those three players exceed the values of the player(s) you are trading away? If so then it's a good deal for you.
