Yankees Expected To Give Anthony Rizzo A Qualifying Offer
2 years agoThe New York Yankees are expected to give first baseman Anthony Rizzo the $19.65 million qualifying offer. Rizzo opted out of his $16 million 2023 option on Tuesday and will likely decline the qualifying offer in order to test the free-agent market this offseason as a terrific two-way player at first base. The 33-year-old left-handed slugger was one of the Yankees' most consistent power threats, other than Aaron Judge, in 2022. He finished by hitting just .224 in 465 regular season at-bats, but he also had a .338 on-base percentage, a .480 slugging percentage, an .817 OPS, 32 home runs, 75 RBI, 77 runs scored and six stolen bases. The short porch at Yankee Stadium was nice for Rizzo, but his power will play anywhere.
