Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed on Wednesday that cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. (Achilles) will require surgery to repair his ruptured left Achilles and will miss the 2025 season, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. It's a rough blow for the fourth-year corner, who will be a free agent at season's end. Emerson Jr. had only missed one game across his first three NFL seasons, racking up 62 solo tackles, four interceptions, and 34 passes defensed. He had been projected to be Cleveland's starting nickel corner heading into 2025. Without Emerson Jr., the Browns will likely turn to veterans Tony Brown II and Nik Needham to fill the hole in their secondary.--Will BradySource: Cleveland.com - Mary Kay Cabot

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer (head) remains out of Wednesday's series finale at Camden Yards against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Dean Kremer. Meanwhile, outfielder Joey Loperfido (thumb) is starting in right field and will bat leadoff on Wednesday after jamming his left thumb on a play at the plate in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader. The 26-year-old sat out Game 2 as a precaution but is now back in the lineup and will be a DFS sleeper out of the leadoff spot. Springer was hit by a pitch on his ear flap in Monday's series opener in Baltimore and will miss his third straight game. The 35-year-old veteran is hoping to avoid a stint on the injured list and has been feeling better, so perhaps he'll be cleared to play for Friday's series opener against the Kansas City Royals after a scheduled off day on Thursday.--Keith HernandezSource: MLB.com

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed is playing through physical coverage in training camp practices so far, according to Jeff Nowak of Audacy Sports. Nowak notes that this has been a clear area of improvement for the fourth-year receiver since he entered the league in 2022. Once known exclusively as a downfield deep-ball threat, Shaheed was showing signs of becoming a more complete receiver in 2024 before tearing his meniscus in Week 6 and missing the remainder of the season. In the six games he played, Shaheed caught 20 passes for 349 yards and three touchdowns, averaging an impressive 2.25 yards-per-route-run. The Saints' question marks at quarterback hold down his fantasy value, but Shaheed is an intriguing late-round dart throw who could be on the verge of a breakout in his age-27 season.--Will BradySource: Audacy Sports - Jeff Nowak

Gary Woodland has had a decent season with six top-25 finishes and six missed cuts in 19 events this year. He currently sits 75th in the FedEx Cup standings and will require a solo 25th-place finish or better at the Wyndham Championship to qualify for the playoffs. To do that, Woodland will need to be accurate from tee to green and convert his birdie chances. He ranks 77th in total strokes gained at plus-0.270, 62nd in greens in regulation, and is in the 81st percentile in proximity from 150 to 200 yards -- a range that accounted for over 40% of approach shots here last year. However, Woodland has struggled with consistency, ranking just 116th in driving accuracy and 147th in birdie or better percentage. At $7,000 on DraftKings, Woodland has decent upside but will need to play aggressively to secure his spot in next week's playoffs.--Dakota Legg - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

Max McGreevy has had an up-and-down season, recording six top-25 finishes but missing 10 cuts through 23 events. He currently sits 99th in the FedEx Cup standings, well outside the top 70 needed to reach the playoffs. McGreevy is looking for a breakthrough at the Wyndham Championship, where he has competed twice, finishing T51 and T5. To have success here, he'll need to be accurate from tee to green and convert birdie opportunities. He ranks 89th in total strokes gained at plus-0.126 per round, 23rd in driving accuracy, and 79th in greens in regulation. He is 97th in birdie or better percentage but sits in just the 32nd percentile in proximity from 150 to 200 yards, a range that accounted for over 40% of approach shots here last year. At $6,800 on DraftKings, he offers value, but McGreevy will need a strong finish, specifically a tie for third place or better, to earn enough points to crack the FedEx Cup playoffs.--Dakota Legg - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman will sit out Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins. Bregman was in Boston's original lineup, but Abraham Toro will instead handle third base and hit second versus right-hander Zebby Matthews. With the Red Sox off Thursday, Bregman will now get back-to-back days to rest. The Red Sox have taken it easy with the 31-year-old since he returned July 11 from a month-plus stay on the IL with a quad injury. Bregman has gone 14-for-48 with three home runs and nine RBI in his first 13 games back to continue another productive season. He's slashing an outstanding .298/.371/.551 with 14 homers, 44 RBI, and 39 runs scored over 275 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com

New York Yankees reliever Fernando Cruz (oblique) is scheduled to throw off a mound either Thursday or Friday as he works back from a strained left oblique. It'll be the right-hander's first time doing so since he went on the 15-day injured list a month ago. Cruz hasn't pitched since June 27, which has deprived the Yankees of one of their only reliable setup men. The 35-year-old has posted a 3.00 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP, 54 strikeouts, 14 walks, and nine holds in 33 innings. With Cruz possibly out until September, the Yankees are scouring the market for bullpen help in advance of Thursday's trade deadline.--Connor ByrneSource: Bryan Hoch - MLB.com

Baltimore Orioles left-hander Cade Povich (hip) didn't fare too well in a rehab outing with Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday. Making his fourth start since going on the 15-day injured list with hip inflammation on June 16, Povich struck out three and yielded five runs (four earned) on seven hits over 4 2/3 frames. The good news is that Povich threw 86 pitches (54 strikes), which suggests he's close to a return to the majors. He could rejoin Baltimore's rotation soon with Charlie Morton, Zach Eflin, and Tomoyuki Sugano all potentially on the way out before Thursday's trade deadline. Povich, 25, has made 12 starts in 13 appearances for the Orioles this season and logged a 5.15 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP and 68:23 K:BB across 64 2/3 innings.--Connor ByrneSource: MiLB.com

Seattle Mariners first baseman/outfielder Luke Raley (back) will go on the 10-day injured list Wednesday when the team officially calls up first baseman Tyler Locklear from Triple-A Tacoma, manager Dan Wilson said. Raley is dealing with back stiffness and hasn't appeared in a game since last Wednesday. The 30-year-old smacked a career-high 22 home runs last season, but he hasn't been much of a factor in 2025. Raley has put up a .220/.343/.348 line with four homers, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored, and two stolen bases in 170 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: Daniel Kramer - MLB.com

Akshay Bhatia has been trending upward, recording five top-30 finishes in his last seven events. He currently sits 44th in the FedEx Cup standings, putting him comfortably inside the playoff picture as the season heads into its final week. He'll look to keep that momentum going at the Wyndham Championship, where he has competed four times but missed the cut in each appearance. Success at Sedgefield hinges on accuracy off the tee, solid approach play, and overall consistency. Bhatia ranks 40th in total strokes gained at plus-0.644 per round, 55th in driving accuracy, and 60th in greens in regulation. He also converts birdies at a high rate, ranking 12th on tour at 24.59%. Additionally, he sits in the 86th percentile in proximity from 150 to 200 yards, a range that accounted for over 40% of approach shots here last year. Course history isn't on his side, but his recent form and strong fit for the layout give him a solid chance to turn things around.--Dakota Legg - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

The Cincinnati Bengals have released running back Zack Moss. Moss began his tenure in Cincinnati during the 2024 season. He opened the campaign as the starter but eventually fell to the reserve role in favor of Chase Brown. In addition, Moss would see his season cut short due to a neck injury following Week 8. During the early part of the 2025 offseason, Moss was able to participate in team OTAs but was placed on the non-football injury (NFI) list to open training camp. However, the veteran running back has been unable to progress and will instead look for a new club. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Brown to be deployed as the clear three-down back during the 2025 season. Brown flashed high upside as a pass-catching back in 2025 and will have a path to enjoy an RB1 season with less competition on the depth chart.--Andy SmithSource: Cincinnati Bengals

Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez (finger) is returning to the lineup on Wednesday against Detroit Tigers right-hander Chris Paddack. He'll bat cleanup and serve as the designated hitter. Suarez had an injury scare on Monday when he took a fastball off the right index finger, but X-rays came back negative, and he ended up missing just one game. This could be the final game in an Arizona uniform for Suarez, who is likely to end up on the move before Thursday's trade deadline. The 34-year-old has drawn interest from several contenders during what has been a prolific season. Fresh off his second All-Star Game appearance, Suarez has slashed .248/.321/.577 with 36 homers, a league-leading 87 RBI, and 64 runs scored in 433 plate appearances.--Connor ByrneSource: MLB.com

Cleveland Guardians left-hander Kolby Allard will start Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies in what could be a bullpen game for the Guards. Allard has averaged just under two innings per appearance, having taken the ball 21 times and totaled 41 1/3 frames. This has been a career season for the 27-year-old, who has registered a 2.83 ERA with 23 strikeouts and just 10 walks. Allard may not stay in long against the Rockies, but this does look like a favorable matchup for him. Colorado ranks 29th in the majors in runs scored and has hit a terrible .226/.286/.371 against lefties.--Connor ByrneSource: Tim Stebbins - MLB.com

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy (knee) went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Muncy also played six innings at third base and committed an error in the fifth inning that allowed a run to score. This was Muncy's first game back in action since July 2, and was a big first step in his return to the Dodgers lineup. In Muncy's absence, Tommy Edman and Miguel Rojas have been handling the hot corner, although both have the versatility to play most infield positions. Muncy started the season off slow, but caught fire in June, slashing .333/.459/.654. On the season, Muncy is slashing .250/.375/.457 with 13 home runs, 55 RBI, four stolen bases, and 39 runs scored. He remains a mid-range option at third base for fantasy managers once he returns, which should be sometime in the next week or two.--Nicho RoesslerSource: Dodger Blue

Aaron Rai finished tied for 34th at the Open Championship two weeks ago and will now focus on preparing for this week's Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. Rai has eight top-25 finishes and missed the cut four times in 19 starts this season. Over the past 12 months, Rai ranks in the 98th percentile in greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 100-150 yards in the fairway. This is important because at last year's Wyndham Championship over 30% of approach shots came from this distance.--Ian Christenson - RotoBallerSource: Data Golf

Over the past 12 months, Novak ranks in the 48th percentile in greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 100-150 yards in the fairway. Hideki Matsuyama finished tied for 16th at the Open Championship two weeks ago and will now focus on preparing for this week's Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. Over the past 12 months, Matsuyama ranks in the 84th percentile in greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 100-150 yards in the fairway. Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) made his second rehab start for Double-A Chesapeake on Tuesday and was sharp, allowing one hit and no walks in 3 2/3 shutout innings. He struck out two and threw 38 pitches, 24 of them being strikes. While this was an encouraging outing for the Orioles and Bradish, he is still likely another three or four rehab starts away from rejoining the big-league club, at minimum, putting him on track to return sometime in mid-to-late August. If your team can afford to stash him on the injured list, you should do so. During the 2024 season, he posted an impressive 2.75 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 12.13 K/9 in 39 1/3 innings pitched. While the sample size is small, he had a 2.83 ERA in 2023 in 168 2/3 innings pitched.--Nicho RoesslerSource: MiLB.com

Over the past 12 months, Kitayama ranks in the 74th percentile in greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 100-150 yards in the fairway.
