Detroit Tigers right-hander Jose Urquidy (elbow), who continues to recover from Tommy John surgery that he had in June of 2024, threw another bullpen session on Tuesday, according to MLive's Evan Woodbery. Urquidy tossed around 20 pitches in his previous bullpen on June 5 and is scheduled to ramp up his workload this week, according to manager A.J. Hinch. The 30-year-old veteran is on the 60-day injured list and will need a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment before the Tigers even think about having him return to the major leagues. Urquidy isn't expected to return until late in the 2025 season, if at all, which means fantasy managers in single-year leagues shouldn't count on relying on him. When he does return, there's a good chance he'll serve in a long-relief role out of Detroit's bullpen.--Keith HernandezSource: MLive - Evan Woodbery

Minnesota Twins right-hander Zebby Matthews (shoulder) has been diagnosed with a moderate subscapularis strain in his right shoulder and will be re-evaluated after not throwing for around two weeks, according to The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman. We'll have a clearer picture of when Matthews might be able to return from the 15-day injured list, but it most likely won't happen until after the All-Star break in mid-July. While the 25-year-old is out, Simeon Woods Richardson will get another opportunity to hold down a starting-rotation spot in Minnesota. Matthews had a rough 6.69 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in his first nine big-league starts a year ago in 2024 and has posted an ERA over 5.00 with a 1.47 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB in his four starts in 2025 before going on the shelf. He showed plenty of strikeout stuff and good control in the minors, but so far he's struggled with home runs in the majors.--Keith HernandezSource: The Athletic - Aaron Gleeman

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito threw six scoreless innings in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. He yielded three hits, three walks, and punched out four to notch his fourth quality start, improving to 2-1. It's a nice rebound for him after a disastrous meeting with the Los Angeles Angels his last time out. The 30-year-old has had a rollercoaster of a time through his first eight appearances, recording three outings with six or more earned runs and four with one or fewer. The result is an ugly 5.45 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. Despite the strong performance, Giolito will be tough to trust the next time he toes the rubber when Boston squares off against the Seattle Mariners on the road early next week.--Alex CiullaSource: ESPN

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara tossed six shutout innings in his team's 3-2 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He let up three hits, one walk, and struck out six to notch his second consecutive quality start. The Dominican Republic native easily compiled his best outing of 2025, yielding no earned runs for the first time all season, and picking up his first win in nearly two months (Apr. 12). That marks back-to-back solid outings for Alcantara, and the first time since his first two starts that he's allowed two earned runs or fewer. Maybe he's finally turned a corner after a few months of dismal performance. He'll look to keep it rolling in a much more difficult matchup his next time out -- early next week at home against the Philadelphia Phillies.--Alex CiullaSource: ESPN

Chicago Bears rookie first-round tight end Colston Loveland (shoulder) hasn't taken part in any of the team's offseason workouts to this point after undergoing shoulder surgery in late January, but he remains on track to be ready to practice with the team in training camp this summer. The 21-year-old is nearly five months into a six-month recovery timetable and has been limited to stretching and light work during mandatory minicamp this week. He can run routes and catch passes but the remaining hurdle is regaining strength in his shoulder. It's good news that Loveland should be ready for training camp, but he's already missed valuable reps, and it's fair to be skeptical about his role in head coach Ben Johnson's offense with Cole Kmet still in the fold. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues shouldn't overpay for immediate production. Loveland is the TE18 in RotoBaller's preseason rankings.--Keith HernandezSource: 670 The Score - Chris Emma

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Andrew Abbott blanked the Cleveland Guardians over nine innings in Tuesday's 1-0 road win. The former second-round pick scattered three hits and issued one free pass while punching out five batters in the dominant performance. Cleveland picked up just one extra-base knock on the day (double). It was his first career complete game and shutout. Abbott has been brilliant this season, yielding one earned run or fewer in nine of 11 appearances. Furthermore, he's walked a lone batter in three straight starts. He'll carry an exceptional 1.87 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 6-1 record into his next outing -- a matchup with the visiting Minnesota Twins early next week.--Alex CiullaSource: ESPN

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (ankle) has been limited during practice due to an ankle injury, according to head coach Mike Macdonald. "But he should be fine," Macdonald added. It seems that Walker is always dealing with some kind of lower-body injury. The 24-year-old has yet to play a full season in the NFL and played just once in the final five weeks of the 2024 season due to an ankle injury before eventually finishing on Injured Reserve. It's yet another reminder that Walker is as injury-prone as they come as an RB2 in fantasy. When healthy, though, Walker has been productive, scoring 24 rushing touchdowns in 41 games over three seasons. Seattle is expected to lean heavily on their rushing attack in 2025, so Walker would be the primary beneficiary if he can stay on the field. Handcuffing Zach Charbonnet to him would be a wise move.--Keith HernandezSource: The Athletic - Michael-Shawn Dugar

Athletics manager Mark Kotsay noted that shortstop Jacob Wilson (hamstring) is absent from Tuesday's contest with the Los Angeles Angels due to hamstring tightness. Per Kotsay, it was a precautionary benching with the A's on a long stretch of no rest. Fortunately, it sounds like Wilson is on the day-to-day side of things and shouldn't need more than a few to get himself right. Still, it's a situation to monitor as hamstring issues tend to linger if not appropriately managed. He's been a spark plug for the team at the top of the lineup, and was particularly blistering over his previous 11 outings with a superb .454 average (20-for-44).--Alex CiullaSource: Martin Gallegos

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (groin) was taking part in the team's mandatory minicamp practice on Tuesday. After missing voluntary organized team activities recently, Kamara is back on the field with the Saints. The 29-year-old five-time Pro Bowler missed the final three games of the 2024 season with a groin injury, but he looks to be over the injury and should be a full-go for training camp this summer. The former third-rounder (67th overall) in 2017 surprisingly has never topped 1,000 yards rushing in his eight NFL campaigns, but he makes up for it in fantasy with his pass-catching prowess. Kamara has had at least 47 receptions in all eight seasons, which gives him a higher fantasy ceiling than most, especially in PPR leagues. Even though the Saints' offense could be mediocre given their QB situation, Kamara should be in play as an RB2 given his expected volume.--Keith HernandezSource: New Orleans Saints

MLive's EvanWoodbery reports that Detroit Tigers right-hander Reese Olson (finger) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday. Olson threw a bullpen on June 7 and felt fine, although he hasn't been able to throw his changeup without irritation to his right ring finger that landed him on the 15-day injured list on May 19. The 25-year-old will attempt to throw his changeup again on Wednesday, and the Tigers are "cautiously optimistic" that they'll get him "back sooner than later," according to general manager Jeff Greenberg. If Olson has a successful bullpen on Wednesday, he could be cleared to face live hitters and return to Detroit's starting rotation before the end of June. Before his finger injury, Olson was in the midst of a breakout season over just nine starts, recording a 2.96 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 51 K's and 19 walks in 48 2/3 innings pitched.--Keith HernandezSource: MLive - Evan Woodbery

Detroit Tigers right-hander Alex Cobb (hip) is scheduled to continue his minor-league rehab start on Wednesday and start for Triple-A Toledo, according to MLive's Evan Woodbery. Cobb, who has been out all year due to right-hip inflammation, threw 2 1/3 hitless innings in his second rehab start for High-A West Michigan on June 6 and felt "incrementally better," according to manager A.J. Hinch. After throwing 50 pitches in his last rehab start, the 37-year-old right-hander will probably need a couple more outings in the minors before he becomes an option to be activated from the 60-day injured list to join the big-league roster. Cobb was a first-time All-Star in 2023 with the San Francisco Giants but made only three starts for Cleveland due to injury last year. He has never made 30 starts in a season and sports a below-average 7.5 K/9 in his 13-year career, limiting his fantasy appeal to much deeper leagues.--Keith HernandezSource: MLive - Evan Woodbery

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman (hand) said that he will miss more than 10 games on the injured list with a sprained hand, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser. Chapman had an MRI exam on Monday that showed sprained ligaments, but he's hoping to be back before the end of the first half of the 2025 season. The 32-year-old veteran injured his right hand while diving back into first base on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. Although he won't be back in 10 days, there's a chance Chapman could be back before the All-Star break in mid-July. Fantasy managers will want to stash the former first-rounder in all leagues, especially since he was hitting .395 (15-for-38) with three homers, five doubles, five RBI, two steals and seven runs in his last 11 games. Casey Schmitt should see most of the starts at third base in San Fran until Chapman returns.--Keith HernandezSource: San Francisco Chronicle - Susan Slusser

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Shohei Ohtani (elbow) is making enough progress in his recovery from 2023 Tommy John surgery that he could pitch sooner than expected, manager Dave Roberts announced. Roberts said that the chances of Ohtani pitching before his post-All-Star break timeline are "north of zero," per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Both Roberts and pitching coach Mark Prior came away encouraged from Ohtani's three-inning simulated game on Tuesday. Ohtani hasn't taken a major league mound since August 2023, but the two-way superstar has continued to make an enormous impact as a hitter. The Los Angeles Times' Jack Harris reported on Tuesday that Ohtani threw 44 pitches over three simulated innings, including 23 in his last inning, before the game at Petco Park against the Padres. He allowed a ground-ball single, one walk and had six strikeouts while inducing 15 total whiffs against a few minor-league hitters.--Connor ByrneSource: Fabian Ardays - The Athletics

The Orioles have placed infielder/outfielder Jorge Mateo (elbow) on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, the team announced. The move is retroactive to June 7. The O's selected infielder Luis Vasquez from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Mateo began feeling discomfort in his elbow after a collision with teammate Heston Kjerstad back on May 31, per Jake Rill of MLB.com. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but there's no timeline for Mateo's return. The defensively versatile 29-year-old has gotten off to a woeful start this season with a .180/.231/.279 line and one home run over 65 plate appearances. However, Mateo has once again been a good source of stolen bases. He's 14-of-15 on his attempts this year.--Connor ByrneSource: Jake Rill - MLB.com

Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) is in Arlington to undergo further diagnostic testing on his injured triceps, manager Bruce Bochy announced. The Rangers expect Eovaldi to throw a bullpen session this weekend. Eovaldi went on the 15-day IL with tightness in his triceps on June 1 (retroactive to May 29), derailing a fantastic start to the season for the 35-year-old. He stormed out of the gates with 69 1/3 innings of 1.56 ERA ball (3.37 xERA) and 73 strikeouts against a meager 10 walks before his IL stint. While it's unknown when Eovaldi will return, the Rangers have suggested his IL placement was precautionary. If that's the case, he could be back in their rotation soon.--Connor ByrneSource: Shawn McFarland - Dallas Morning News

Kansas City Royals right-handed reliever Lucas Erceg (back) is on track to rejoin the team on Wednesday, manager Matt Quatraro announced. Erceg has been on the 15-day injured list since May 27 with a low back strain, but he has been able to get through his rehab without incident. He threw a perfect inning for Triple-A Omaha on Sunday. The 30-year-old was a great source of holds before he landed on the shelf, picking up 13. He also pitched to an excellent 1.96 ERA (3.23 xERA) with 18:3 K:BB and a career-best 53.3% ground-ball rate over a 23-inning span.--Connor ByrneSource: Anne Rogers - MLB.com

The Washington Nationals recalled infielder Andres Chaparro from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday and optioned infielder Nasim Nunez to Rochester in a corresponding move, according to president of baseball operations and general manager Mike Rizzo. Chaparro will be making his season debut for the Nats when he gets into a game after missing the first two months of the year with an oblique strain. The 26-year-old was hitting well at Rochester before his promotion, going 17-for-56 (.304) with five home runs, 19 RBI and eight runs scored in 15 games played. As a rookie in 2024, the Venezuelan hit .215 (26-for-121) with four homers and 15 RBI in his first 33 games. Chaparro is really only worth a look from fantasy managers looking for bench depth in deep NL-only leagues as a potential platoon guy against left-handed pitchers.--Keith HernandezSource: Nationals Communications

Veteran right-handed reliever Craig Kimbrel signed a minor-league deal with the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, a source tells The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. The Atlanta Braves recently recalled Kimbrel up from the minors but then designated him for assignment after just one appearance out of their bullpen. He elected free agency and has quickly latched on with another team. The 37-year-old will likely start at Triple-A Round Rock, but there's a good chance he'll find his way back to the big leagues before long in some sort of high-leverage setup role. Kimbrel held a nice 2.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, three saves, 23 strikeouts and nine walks in 18 relief innings with Double-A Columbus and Triple-A Gwinnett in the Braves organization. The nine-time All-Star has saved 440 games in his 16-year MLB career, but he faces an uphill battle to get back into fantasy relevance the rest of the 2025 season.--Keith HernandezSource: The Athletic - Ken Rosenthal

Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson is not in the team's lineup against the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. It's not yet known why the Athletics scratched Wilson from their starting nine. Max Schuemann will take his place at shortstop and bat eighth. The 23-year-old Wilson is enjoying a sensational rookie season with a .366/.402/.520 line, eight home runs, and five stolen bases in 272 plate appearances. The hope is that he's not dealing with an injury, but the A's should have more information soon.--Connor ByrneSource: Athletics

Tampa Bay Buccaneers All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs (knee) didn't take part in the team's first mandatory minicamp practice on Tuesday and had a large brace on his right knee, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine. Head coach Todd Bowles said Wirfs is dealing with an offseason injury and that his absence from practice was "precautionary." "He'll be fine in training camp," Bowles said. Wirfs was the 13th overall pick by the Bucs in the 2020 NFL draft out of Iowa. He has started all 79 of the games that he's appeared in over his five NFL seasons and has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four years, so he's pretty important for Tampa's offense as they enter yet another year with a new offensive coordinator. His injury will be something to keep an eye on in training camp this summer, but he should be ready to protect quarterback Baker Mayfield's blind side in Week 1.--Keith HernandezSource: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder) completed a 15-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. It was Snell's first bullpen session since April. Snell revealed afterward that his shoulder wasn't pain-free until two weeks ago. The Dodgers signed Snell to a five-year, $182 million guarantee in free agency, but the two-time Cy Young winner hasn't pitched yet this season on account of his shoulder problems. He's obviously still a ways off from debuting this season, but it's a positive sign that he was able to get through Tuesday's throwing session unscathed.--Connor ByrneSource: Bill Plunkett - Orange County Register

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Lou Trivino will serve as the opener ahead of Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers will go with a bullpen game here, which could be a hard task against a tough Padres lineup. Trivino will get the ball first with Matt Sauer likely pitching a bulk of the innings. The Dodgers appear to be in good hands with Trivino who is posting a 1.74 ERA and 1.16 WHIP since joining the team. He's not a great fantasy option here, but could offer some low-end value for managers looking for bullpen help.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Pittsburgh Steelers star pass-rusher T.J. Watt is not expected to attend mandatory minicamp this week, a source tells The Athletic's Diana Russini. Watt is angling for a new contract extension, and although the two sides are fully expected to work something out before the start of the 2025 regular season this fall, it's something that could stretch into training camp this summer. Despite being 30 years old, the seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro remains one of the most disruptive defensive players in the NFL when he's healthy. Watt is the heart and soul of Pittsburgh's physical defensive unit, and although he dropped to 11.5 sacks last year after posting a league-high 19 the year prior, he was still plenty productive in IDP fantasy formats with 61 tackles (40 solo), 19 tackles for loss, 27 QB hits, a league-high six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 17 regular-season starts.--Keith HernandezSource: The Athletic - Dianna Russini

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith heads to the bench ahead of Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. Smith is absent from the starting lineup after starting in each of the last three games. During that span, Smith went 3-for-13 with a home run, three RBI, and a walk. In his absence, Dalton Rushing will start behind the plate and bat ninth versus right-hander Dylan Cease. Smith has been seeing more time on the bench lately, but that is likely due to the emergence of Rushing. Fantasy managers shouldn't be worried as Smith is hitting well enough to remain a mainstay in the lineup.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com

Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro defensive end Trey Hendrickson is not attending mandatory minicamp this week as he seeks a long-term contract extension, a source tells The Athletic's Jeff Howe. Hendrickson hasn't practiced at all with the team this season and said that he is willing to hold out into the regular season if the Bengals don't give him what he wants after back-to-back 17.5-sack seasons. The Bengals gave the 30-year-old four-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher permission to seek a trade back in March, but nothing materialized with the Bengals' asking price being extremely high. The Bengals struggled on defense in 2024 in spite of Hendrickson's elite pass-rushing contributions, but they are definitely a better team with him than without him. In IDP fantasy formats, Hendrickson's value could drop as the regular season approaches if he remains unsigned.--Keith HernandezSource: The Athletic - Jeff Howe

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Nathan Lukes (neck) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The severity of the issue is unknown, but Lukes has been pulled from the lineup due to neck discomfort. For now, fantasy managers should consider Lukes as day-to-day until more information is revealed. The Jays will go with Alan Roden, Jonatan Clase, and Myles Straw in the outfield for Tuesday's contest. Straw figures to gain the most playing time if Lukes is forced to miss more games.--Andy WebbSource: mlb.com
