Brock Purdy Misses Practice Wednesday, in Danger of Missing Another Game?
Brock Purdy (toe) did not take part in the first practice of the week on Wednesday, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Purdy suffered a turf-toe injury in the season opener and missed Weeks 2 and 3 before returning in Week 4, only to aggravate his toe. The 25-year-old missed his third game of the year in last Thursday's surprising upset win over the Los Angeles Rams. Purdy is progressing from his toe injury, but he remains week-to-week and could certainly miss his fourth game of the year in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is definitely going to need to return to practice in the next two days to even have a shot at playing on Sunday. Mac Jones (knee) has been banged up himself early this year, but he should be able to make a fourth start against Tampa if Purdy is ruled out later this week.

Alvin Kamara Injures Ankle in Practice Wednesday
Alvin Kamara injured his ankle during Wednesday's practice, according to Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Times. Head coach Kellen Moore said that the injury to Kamara is not a concern, for what it's worth. The veteran's back will be listed as day-to-day this week, and fantasy managers will want to pay attention to Thursday's injury report to confirm that he will be all good to go for Week 6. Kamara played a season low 53% of the snaps in Week 6 with the emergence of third-year back Kendre Miller. There's a possibility that the New Orleans backfield could be closer to a 50/50 split moving forward. Kamara will rank on the RB2/RB3 line if he can suit up on Sunday. UPDATE: Kamara was officially limited in Wednesday's practice.

Joel Embiid Takes Part in Practice on Wednesday
Joel Embiid (knee) participated in some five-on-five drills during team practice on Wednesday. Despite the positive update, it is still unclear if the 31-year-old will make his return to the floor during preseason action. When active, Embiid remains a dominant force across all fantasy formats, though injuries have limited him to just 58 appearances across the last two regular-season campaigns.

Ricky Pearsall Not Expected to Play in Week 6
Ricky Pearsall (knee) did not practice on Wednesday and is not expected to play in their Week 6 matchup at Tampa Bay, according to Tracy Sandler of FGSN. Pearsall is now set to miss his second straight game after suffering a PCL injury in the 49ers' Week 4 loss to the Jaguars. It's unfortunate, as Pearsall had been enjoying a fantastic start to the season, catching 20 of 29 targets for 327 yards. His absence will again open up more opportunities for Week 5's breakout performer, Kendrick Bourne, as well as another heavy workload for star back Christian McCaffrey.

Calvin Austin III Out Wednesday With Shoulder Injury
Calvin Austin III (shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN. Austin injured his shoulder in the fourth quarter of their Week 4 win over the Vikings, and it seems to have lingered over their Week 5 bye. Beginning the practice week with a missed practice paints a pessimistic picture of his chances to suit up on Sunday against Cleveland, but he'll have two more opportunities to practice this week. Austin has been a reliable weapon for veteran Aaron Rodgers, catching 10 of 17 targets for 139 yards and two touchdowns. If Austin can play in Week 6, he wouldn't be a recommended start coming off injury against a tough defense.

Paul George Moving Closer to Return
Paul George (knee) is expected to participate in team activities within the next few days. George has been limited to individual workouts since undergoing surgery in July. The veteran forward appeared in just 41 games during an injury-plagued first season with the Sixers, averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per contest. While his recovery continues to trend in the right direction, there remains no clear timetable for his return to action.

Jaylen Warren Logs Full Practice Wednesday
Jaylen Warren (knee) practiced in full on Wednesday, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN. Warren missed the Steelers' Week 4 matchup against the Vikings in London and saw his backup, Kenneth Gainwell, total 134 yards and two touchdowns in his place. Before getting hurt, Warren handled the bulk of the work in the backfield. He began the season with 13 total touches against the Jets, then bumped up to 18 in Week 3 and up to a career high 23 in Week 3. He should be expected to retain his lead-back duties now that he is healthy and projects as a solid RB2 for Week 6.

Bo Bichette Nearing Return, Jogging Without his Knee Brace
Bo Bichette (knee) is in New York and was seen jogging without a brace on his knee in the Yankee Stadium outfield on Wednesday before Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees, according to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. Bichette jogged three times in the outfield for about 50 yards and then slowly walked back to the team's trainers. Bannon writes that Bichette "still seems to have a limp when walking." The 27-year-old All-Star is not on the roster for the ALDS due to a left-knee sprain that has kept him out since Sept. 6, but he's trying to make himself available for the AL Championship Series if Toronto advances. Running full speed without pain is the last box he needs to check to be cleared to return to the field. Getting Bichette back for a playoff run would be a massive boost to a Blue Jays team that has still been putting up runs in bunches so far without him.

Paul Goldschmidt Making the Start in Game 4 of ALDS on Wednesday
Paul Goldschmidt is making the start at first base on Wednesday over Ben Rice in Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays, with right-hander Louis Varland serving as an opener in what will be a bullpen game for the Jays. Manager Aaron Boone explained that he wanted more balance in the lineup in Toronto's bullpen game. Goldy is batting sixth against Varland as the Yanks look to stave off elimination for a second straight day. This will be the 38-year-old's first start in the ALDS and his second of the 2025 playoffs. In his eight plate appearances over five games in the postseason so far this year, Goldschmidt has been hot, with four hits, a run scored, and a strikeout. He did not record a hit in his only career plate appearance against Varland.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Misses Practice Wednesday With Wrist Issue
Amon-Ra St. Brown (wrist) did not practice on Wednesday, according to the team. It is unclear when or how St. Brown suffered this injury, but fantasy managers should keep a close eye on the injury report for the rest of the week. It is only Wednesday, and it could be a precautionary measure for their star wideout, but it is worth monitoring regardless. St. Brown is off to a remarkable start to the season, leading the league with six touchdown catches and ranking as WR2 in PPR points per game. Other Lions pass catchers like Sam LaPorta, Jameson Williams, and perhaps rookie Isaac TeSlaa could see a boost in production if St. Brown were to miss Sunday night's game against the Chiefs.

Jalen Coker Practicing in Full, Set for Season Debut in Week 6?
Jalen Coker (quadriceps) was a full participant in his return to practice on Wednesday, according to David Newton of ESPN. The Panthers opened Coker's 21-day practice window on Wednesday, and he's eligible to come off Injured Reserve at any time. The 23-year-old is back at practice for the first time since suffering a quad injury on Aug. 28, but it's still unclear if he actually has a shot to be activated to make his 2025 debut this weekend against the Dallas Cowboys. Even if Coker doesn't play in Week 6, he's deserving of a waiver-wire pickup for fantasy managers looking for receiving depth. The Panthers haven't gotten much production from their receivers not named Tetairoa McMillan through five weeks. Coker became much more involved late in his rookie season in 2024 and finished with 32 catches, 478 yards, and two scores in 11 games (four starts).

Raiders Not Expected to Bench Geno Smith in Week 6
Geno Smith's rough start to the season. Fowler adds that there's "no sentiment that Smith is a broken quarterback." Smith is not expected to be benched in Week 6 against the Tennessee Titans. Scouts that Fowler has talked with think Smith has "been too late" with the ball and is relying on his arm talent to force footballs into tight windows. It hasn't been pretty for the veteran QB through five games, as he's thrown six touchdowns and a league-leading nine interceptions. Smith and head coach Pete Carroll have enough equity from their days in Seattle that Carroll "could stick with him a little longer as a result." With that said, real questions are going to arise about Smith's job status if he cannot get the job done on Sunday against the one-win Titans.

Grant Calcaterra Won't be Active in Week 6
Grant Calcaterra (oblique) missed another practice on Wednesday and has officially been ruled out for Week 6 on Thursday Night Football against the division-rival New York Giants. Calcaterra suffered an oblique injury in the loss in Week 5 to the Denver Broncos and will miss at least one game as a result. The good news is that the 26-year-old will have extra time to recover before the team's Week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Oct. 19. When healthy, Calcaterra isn't really relevant as the No. 2 TE in Philly behind Dallas Goedert. He has four catches for 40 yards and no touchdowns in five games in 2025 after a career-best year in 2024 in which he posted a 24-298-1 line on 30 targets in 17 regular-season games. Expect Kylen Granson to back up Goedert on Thursday night.

Michael Mayer Clears Concussion Protocol, Will be a Full-Go on Wednesday
Michael Mayer (concussion) has cleared the league's concussion protocol and will be a full-go in practice on Wednesday, per Ryan McFadden of ESPN. Mayer has missed the last two games with a concussion, but he appears to be on track to return this Sunday to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 6. The Raiders' TE corps was especially thin in the Week 5 blowout loss to the Indianapolis Colts, with Brock Bowers (knee) also inactive. Mayer isn't really on the fantasy radar when Bowers is healthy, but if Mayer returns this weekend and Bowers misses a second straight game, the 24-year-old would be on the TE2 streaming radar. In three games this year before suffering his head injury, Mayer was minimally involved, catching six of his seven targets for 47 yards and no touchdowns.

Jalen Carter Questionable, Landon Dickerson Ruled Out for Thursday Night

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter (heel) is listed as questionable to play on Thursday night against the division-rival New York Giants. In addition, offensive lineman Landon Dickerson (ankle) has been ruled out for the Eagles. Carter was able to play through his heel injury in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos, and he had four tackles on 66 defensive snaps. The 24-year-old was added to this week's injury report on Wednesday, putting his status up in the air for Week 6. Jaylen Warren Practicing Again on Wednesday, Ready to Return in Week 6?
Jaylen Warren (knee) is still wearing a sleeve over his right leg, but he's practicing again on Wednesday, according to Alan Saunders of PGH Steelers Now. Warren injured his knee in Week 3 and was held out of the Week 4 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Ireland as a result. The 26-year-old had last week's bye to heal up, so he might only end up missing one game. Backfield mate Kenneth Gainwell was heavily utilized in Ireland with Warren out, touching the football 25 times for 134 total yards and two touchdowns. Gainwell's big game could provoke the Steelers to give him more work moving forward, even when Warren returns. That's something fantasy managers will want to think about when setting their lineups going forward. Warren had 43 carries in his first three games, but he averaged a career-low 3.1 yards per tote. He has made up for his lack of efficiency on the ground with 11 receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown as a pass-catcher.

Chargers Officially Place Omarion Hampton on Injured Reserve on Wednesday
Omarion Hampton (ankle) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. In a corresponding move, Kimani Vidal was called up from the practice squad to the active roster. The Bolts also signed veteran pass-catching back Nyheim Hines to the practice squad. An ankle injury suffered in the Week 5 loss to the Washington Commanders is going to keep Hampton out for at least four games. The 22-year-old needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats in the meantime, though, as he should return to bell-cow duties when he's healthy. Heading into Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins, Vidal and Haskins figure to split the backfield workload, making both short-term waiver-wire solutions. Hampton has averaged a healthy 4.8 yards per carry for 314 yards and two touchdowns on the ground for L.A. in his first five NFL games.

Chargers Elevate Kimani Vidal to Active Roster
Kimani Vidal from the practice squad after placing Omarion Hampton (ankle) on Injured Reserve. With both Hampton and Najee Harris sidelined, Vidal could be asked to contribute immediately behind new lead back Hassan Haskins. The second-year runner has logged just 47 career carries for 173 yards but brings a proven track record of durability and production from his college days at Troy, where he totaled 1,661 rushing yards on 297 carries in 2023. At 5'8" and 215 pounds, Vidal offers a compact, powerful running style that fits well within the Chargers' offensive system. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues should monitor his role closely, as he could emerge as a complementary option in Los Angeles' backfield rotation.

Ja'Tavion Sanders Returns to Practice on Wednesday
Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) is healthy and set to resume practicing on Wednesday ahead of the team's Week 6 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys. Sanders has started all three games he's played this season, catching 11 of 14 targets while proving to be a reliable option in the passing game. His return provides a noticeable upgrade over Tommy Tremble and should help stretch the field for big-play receiver Tetairoa McMillan. With both Sanders and Xavier Legette back in action, the Panthers' offense appears poised to continue its recent surge after winning two of their last three games. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues should keep an eye on Sanders as a potential streaming option if his involvement continues to grow. UPDATE: Sanders was officially limited in Wednesday's practice.

Cade Horton to Throw Another Bullpen on Friday
Cade Horton's (rib) light bullpen session went "really well" on Tuesday, according to manager Craig Counsell. Horton is now scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Friday, per Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times. The 24-year-old suffered a fractured right rib at the very end of the regular season and wasn't included on the playoff roster for the wild-card series against the San Diego Padres or for the National League Division Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. It's possible that Horton could be available for the Cubbies later this month, but they first have to climb out of a 2-0 hole in a best-of-five series against Milwaukee. The former first-rounder looked great in his first 23 MLB games (22 starts) during the regular season, going 11-4 with a 2.67 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 97:33 K:BB in 118 innings. Horton should be guaranteed a rotation spot going into the 2026 season, which will be his first full year in the Show.

Saquon Barkley Set for Full Workload in Thursday Night Revenge Game
Saquon Barkley (knee) practiced in full on Wednesday, clearing him for Thursday night's matchup against his former team. In his lone meeting with the Giants last season, Barkley exploded for 187 total yards and a touchdown on 19 touches. The Eagles are expected to feature him early and often as they look to establish the run against a defense that has struggled to contain opposing backs. Barkley has yet to surpass 100 rushing yards in a game this season, but his recent health progress and familiarity with the Giants' defensive scheme could set the stage for a long-awaited breakout performance. Fantasy managers should confidently keep him locked into lineups for Week 6.

Jackson Chourio Back in Lineup for NLDS Game 3
Jackson Chourio (hamstring) is starting in left field and is hitting second for Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Wednesday at Wrigley Field against the division-rival Chicago Cubs and right-hander Jameson Taillon. Chourio was pulled from the Game 1 win on Saturday with right-hamstring tightness, and he left the contest early again in the Game 2 win in Milwaukee on Monday. It has helped that the 21-year-old has had a day off between each game of the series, which will allow him to return for Game 3 as he looks to continue swinging a hot bat against Chicago. Through the first two games, Chourio has gone 5-for-7 with a home run and six RBI. Chourio has swung the bat well in his career against Taillon, too, going 7-for-13 against him with a home run and four RBI. Another big game could be coming.

Chuba Hubbard Remains Sidelined, Rico Dowdle Could Start Again in Week 6
Chuba Hubbard (calf) did not practice on Wednesday, putting his Week 6 status in jeopardy and opening the door for Rico Dowdle to remain the featured back. Dowdle took full advantage of his opportunity last week, erupting for 234 total yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins in a breakout performance. If Hubbard remains sidelined, Dowdle should once again see a heavy workload in a revenge-game scenario versus his former team, the Dallas Cowboys. The matchup is favorable, as Dallas currently ranks 23rd in the league against the run. Fantasy managers should treat Dowdle as a strong RB2 option if he draws another start, while Hubbard's ongoing absence makes him a risky play for Week 6.

Mike Evans Making Progress in Hamstring Recovery
Mike Evans (hamstring) continues to make progress in his recovery, though a firm return date remains uncertain. Head coach Todd Bowles offered an optimistic update Wednesday, saying, "He's coming along. He's healing. I can't tell you how fast or when, but he's healing." Despite Evans and Chris Godwin both missing time this season, Tampa Bay's passing offense hasn't missed a beat, ranking sixth in the NFL behind impressive play from rookie Emeka Egbuka. The Buccaneers' depth at receiver has helped keep the offense rolling, but Evans' eventual return would provide a major boost to an already dynamic unit. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his practice participation ahead of the team's upcoming matchups.

Roki Sasaki "Definitely the Primary Option" in Save Situations for Dodgers
Roki Sasaki is "definitely the primary option" in save situations moving forward in the playoffs, according to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times. Roberts added that he initially didn't go to Sasaki in the Game 2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Division Series on Monday night because the team is still "being mindful of his workload." "There's a component that we still have to win X amount more games. And he's not gonna close every game. It's just not feasible. So you've got to use other guys. But if it makes sense, he'll definitely be finishing games," Roberts said. The 23-year-old struggled early on in his first MLB season and then missed most of the year with an injury, but Sasaki has transitioned well to a relief role for the playoffs and has the most trustworthy stuff right now for a Dodgers 'pen that has been by far their weakness in 2025. Sasaki has saved both of the team's NLDS wins to this point.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Not Practicing on Wedneday
Amon-Ra St. Brown is not practicing on Wednesday. The team has yet to provide an update on why the star wideout is being held out of action. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to the injury report later on Wednesday in case this injury is serious. However, given that it is only Wednesday, St. Brown will have two more opportunities to return to practice before Friday's final report. After his quiet showing in Week 1, St. Brown has gone on to average a stellar 26.0 PPR points per game. During this four-game stretch, he has tallied 90.5 yards per game and caught 7.8 receptions per game. If he were to miss time, Jameson Williams would slide into the WR1 role.

Bucky Irving Still Sidelined With Shoulder and Ankle Injuries
Bucky Irving (shoulder, ankle) remained sidelined at Wednesday's practice, putting his Week 6 status in serious doubt. He has now missed multiple sessions as he continues to recover from lingering injuries, leaving the Buccaneers to rely heavily on Rachaad White. White carried the load last week with 14 rushes for 41 yards and two touchdowns and should once again operate as the primary option against the 49ers. San Francisco's defense ranks 17th against the run, giving Tampa Bay a favorable matchup to continue establishing the run. Irving's absence limits his short-term fantasy outlook, but managers should keep him stashed in hopes of a potential return for the team's Week 7 matchup against the Lions.

Louis Varland to Start Game 4 of ALDS Against Yankees
Louis Varland will make the start in Game 4 of the American League Division Series on Wednesday against the division-rival New York Yankees in the Bronx, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. It is a bullpen game for Toronto as they try to close out the series in New York and head to the AL Championship Series against either the Seattle Mariners or Detroit Tigers. Varland has pitched in each of the first three games of the ALDS against the Yankees and has allowed two earned runs on three hits while striking out three in 2 2/3 relief frames. The 27-year-old will be one to avoid in DFS on Wednesday, as he likely will only go an inning or two. Varland began the year with Minnesota before joining Toronto at the trade deadline. He had a 4.94 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 28:9 K:BB in 23 outings (one start) for the Jays after joining them at midseason.

Lamar Jackson Missing a Fourth Straight Practice on Wednesday
Lamar Jackson (hamstring) will miss his fourth straight practice on Wednesday, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. The two-time MVP tweaked his hamstring in Week 4 and was held out of the Week 5 loss to the Houston Texans. It's looking likely that he will miss a second straight contest this Sunday versus the visiting Los Angeles Rams. The Ravens have their bye coming up in Week 7, which would allow Jackson another week of rest before potentially making his return in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears on Oct. 26. Reports earlier on Wednesday suggested that the 28-year-old is fighting an "uphill battle" to play in Week 6 against the Rams, so fantasy managers should keep him on their benches. Backup Cooper Rush, who struggled mightily last week against Houston, will be in line to make a second straight start for the 1-4 Ravens.

Jalen Coker's Practice Window Opens on Wednesday
Jalen Coker (quadriceps) has officially been designated to return from Injured Reserve and will return to practice on Wednesday, according to a team release. The Panthers will now have 21 days to officially activate Coker from IR. The 23-year-old missed the first five games of the season due to a pretty serious quad injury that he suffered on Aug. 28, but he's making progress and could be ready to make his 2025 debut as early as this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. It's probably unlikely that we'll see Coker in pads and a helmet in Week 6, but this is a notice to fantasy managers seeking wideout depth to run to the waiver wire and add him. Xavier Legette's return from injury and big game in Week 5 kind of puts a damper on Coker's fantasy value right now, but the second-year wideout could still have a big role in Carolina's passing game when he returns after posting a 32-478-2 line in 11 games in his rookie campaign.
