Noah Brown Should Come Off PUP List Soon
Noah Brown (undisclosed) will join training camp practices soon but needs a bit of a ramp-up period and rest days. The Commanders placed Brown on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list to begin camp, but he could be back sooner than later. The 29-year-old was carted off the field on June 11 at minicamp, but the Commanders never specified what type of injury he was dealing with. It shouldn't really matter, though, as Brown should have enough time to get ready for Week 1 of the regular season if he can return to practice soon. When he does, he'll be competing for playing time as the No. 3 receiver behind Terry McLaurin and newcomer Deebo Samuel Sr. Brown missed the final two months of 2024 with a kidney injury and could face stiff competition from Luke McCaffrey.Source: The Athletic - Ben Standig
The Athletic's Ben Standig reports that Washington Commanders wide receiver Dont'e Thornton Jr. Continues to Work With First Team
Dont'e Thornton Jr. continued to get first-team reps when the offense was in 11 personnel at training camp practice on Wednesday, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN. Quarterback Geno Smith did throw a deep ball to Thornton, but it was broken up. Thornton, not second-rounder Jack Bech, has been getting reps with the first-team offense since the spring, so he could be a valuable deep threat with his speed for Smith in his first year in the NFL. Jakobi Meyers is the Raiders' WR1 entering the season, so there is plenty of opportunity for Thornton if he continues to impress the coaching staff and gain chemistry with Smith. Tre Tucker will be Thornton's primary competition for targets. At best, Thornton might be a boom/bust flex option for fantasy managers in deeper formats.Source: ESPN.com - Ryan McFadden
Las Vegas Raiders rookie wide receiver Kenny Pickett Takes Most of First-Team Reps on Wednesday
Kenny Pickett spent most of the day on Wednesday in the first training camp practice working with the first-team offense, at least during 11-on-11 drills. However, Pickett went second behind veteran Joe Flacco during modified 7-on-7 work. The Browns have a QB competition going this summer, which is expected to come down to Pickett and Flacco, with rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders mainly looking to prove that the Browns should keep them around beyond 2025. Pickett and Flacco will most likely rotate work with the first team in the early portions of camp. Pickett has mostly been unremarkable in offseason workouts, and Flacco is the favorite to begin the year as the starting QB in Cleveland.Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Chris Easterling

Discomfort in Ribs Continues to Hinder Lars Nootbaar
Lars Nootbaar (ribs) has been on the injured list with a left costochondral sprain (ribcage) since July 13. Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak said Monday that Nootbaar has been unable to swing a bat without feeling discomfort in his left ribcage. Until the rib pain subsides, there is no clear timetable for his return. This type of injury is similar to an oblique strain, as little progress could be made until the pain leaves. Nootbaar had been an everyday outfielder for the Cardinals until his injury, compiling 12 home runs, 37 RBI, and four stolen bases to go along with a .227 batting average. Fantasy managers in leagues with an open IL spot should continue to stash Nootbaar for now.Source: MB.com
St. Louis Cardinals Bengals to Host Noah Fant for a Visit on Thursday
Noah Fant on a visit on Thursday, sources tell FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Fant is making the rounds after being cut by the Seahawks, and the 27-year-old former first-rounder could give Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow another weapon in 2025. Fant wasn't as good the last three years in Seattle -- he had just one touchdown in the last two years -- as he was in his first three years with the Denver Broncos. He never had more than 50 receptions or 500 yards for the Seahawks, but he could give Cincy more depth behind Mike Gesicki with Eric All Jr. (knee) on the PUP list at training camp after tearing his right ACL in Week 9 of last year. Fant would be joining a much more explosive offense if he were to sign with the Bengals, but he wouldn't be guaranteed much of a role alongside Gesicki.Source: FOX Sports - Jordan Schultz
The Cincinnati Bengals will host former Seattle Seahawks tight end Nolan Gorman Receives Injection for Pain
Nolan Gorman (back) is on the injured list with lower back pain. According to Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak, Gorman had an injection for his lower back pain and could be ready to return when first eligible on July 29. His return should be based on how he responds to this injection. The injection should help relieve his lower back pain and inflammation, and allow Gorman the mobility to play. It is not known whether a rehab assignment will be needed. The power-hitting second baseman has logged an OPS this year of .718 and a wRC+ of 102. Gorman has averaged 20 home runs over the last three seasons. Fantasy managers with an IL spot in deep leagues can continue to stash Gorman.Source: mlb.com
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Cardinals DFA Erick Fedde on Wednesday
Erick Fedde for assignment on Wednesday and recalled right-hander Andre Granillo from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. For now, rookie Michael McGreevy will replace Fedde in St. Louis' rotation and make another start this weekend on Sunday against the San Diego Padres. Fedde gets the boot off St. Louis' roster after surrendering 26 runs with 11 walks and only eight strikeouts in 17 2/3 innings over his last five starts. He just was not effective enough in going 3-10 with a 5.22 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 63 strikeouts in 101 2/3 innings of work over his 20 starts. McGreevy doesn't have overpowering stuff and only has a 6.1 K/9 in 51 1/3 innings in the last two years, but he has held a 2.81 ERA in nine MLB outings (seven starts) dating back to last year.Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch - Derrick Goold
The St. Louis Cardinals designated right-hander Keegan Akin Moving on up in His Rehab
Keegan Akin (shoulder) began his rehab assignment at the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Monday. He is expected to have a few rehab outings before being activated from the injured list. His rehab assignment has now been moved to Triple-A Norfolk as he continues to work his way back from left shoulder inflammation. Before his injury, the lefty owned a 3.32 ERA with 38 strikeouts over 39 innings and could see an expanded role if the Orioles are sellers at the trade deadline. Baltimore could activate Akin soon to showcase him before the MLB trade deadline next Thursday.Source: @masnRoch
Baltimore Orioles left-hander Daulton Varsho Close to a Return
Daulton Varsho (hamstring) is moving his rehab to Triple-A Buffalo by Friday and is expected to remain there through the weekend. Barring any setbacks, he could be activated from the injured list early next week. Varsho has played in four rehab games so far and has homered in his last two contests. Before landing on the injured list, the 29-year-old slashed .207/.240/.543 with eight home runs and a stolen base this season. Coming back from a hamstring issue could put into question how aggressive he will be on the basepaths when he comes back. Fantasy managers in deep-leagues can continue to stash Varsho as he's close to returning from the injured list.Source: @KeeganMatheson

Decision on Tony Gonsolin's Status Looming
Tony Gonsolin (elbow) is on the 60-day injured list with right elbow soreness. Although his MRI showed that his UCL was intact, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Gonsolin was still not throwing, and the Dodgers would have to decide on his status "soon." The right-hander had Tommy John surgery in September 2023, and he experienced right elbow discomfort following his start this year on June 5. Gonsolin has only pitched 36 innings this year and was ineffective, posting a 5.00 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP and a 4.50 BB:9. Pitch control is usually the last pitching aspect pitchers get back after Tommy John surgery. The way his status is being discussed, Gonsolin's return this year is in doubt.Source: @dodgerblue1958
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Ben Casparius Expects to Avoid Trip to the Injured List
Ben Casparius (calf) said that his MRI exam came back negative on Wednesday and that he expects to avoid a trip to the injured list after dealing with right-calf cramping in his outing on Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins, per MLB.com's Sonja Chen. It's good news, but Casparius will likely need a few days off before he's available for the Dodgers again. He was wearing a sleeve over his calf on Wednesday and walking with a bit of a limp. The 26-year-old former fifth-rounder in 2021 out of Connecticut has made 30 appearances (three starts) for the Blue this year in his second season in the big leagues and has posted a bloated 5.06 ERA (3.44 FIP) with a 1.28 WHIP, 60 strikeouts and 16 walks in 64 innings. Although his strikeout rate sits at just 22%, he's made strides in the control department with just a 5.9% walk rate.Source: MLB.com - Sonja Chen
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Roki Sasaki Continuing Pitching Progression
Roki Sasaki (shoulder) had a bullpen session on Wednesday and is set to have another session this weekend. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sasaki could head to the team’s spring training complex next week to face live hitters. He has been on the injured list with a shoulder impingement since mid-May and has topped out at 90 mph during previous recent bullpen sessions. Sasaki has only pitched in 8 games this year to the tune of a 4.72 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, and a 6.29 K:9. Based on his recent progress, Sasaki could return from the IL by late August.Source: @sonjamchen
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Max Muncy to Take Live At-Bats in Arizona
Max Muncy (knee) will head to Arizona on Thursday to take live at-bats for a few days, according to Sonja Chen of MLB.com. After that, Muncy could potentially start a minor-league rehab assignment, per manager Dave Roberts. Muncy is currently on the 10-day injured list with a left-knee bone bruise, but the 34-year-old veteran has been recovering quickly and appears to be ahead of schedule. Barring a setback once he begins facing live pitching, it's possible that Muncy could come off the IL in early August to rejoin the big-league club. The left-handed slugger should be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy baseball leagues while he heals. He was hitting .250 (64-for-256) with 13 homers, 55 RBI, 39 runs and four steals before his injury. Tommy Edman should continue to see most of the starts at the hot corner with both Muncy and Enrique Hernandez (elbow) on the IL.Source: MLB.com - Sonja Chen
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Jason Alexander to Start for Astros on Thursday
Jason Alexander in order to start on Thursday against the division-rival Athletics, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic. Nick Hernandez has been optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move. The 32-year-old will be facing the team he started out with this year in the A's, and this will be just his second "start" of the year and 13th of his career after debuting with Milwaukee in 2022. He has appeared in only two games (one start) for the Astros, allowing three runs (two earned) while walking five and striking out six. Alexander had an 18.00 ERA in just six relief innings for the A's earlier in 2025. He has been excellent at Sugar Land in the minors, but fantasy managers should consider him a desperation streamer in his second start of the year, even against the A's.Source: The Athletic - Chandler Rome
The Houston Astros plan to call up right-hander Lawrence Butler Heads to the Bench
Lawrence Butler is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers. This will be a rare rest day for Butler who is idle against left-handed starter Patrick Corbin. The A's are going to play matchups here with Butler and Tyler Soderstrom taking a seat. Butler is slashing .195/244/.390 against left-handed pitching this season, so it's not a bad idea to pull him out of the lineup. In his absence, Colby Thomas will cover center field and bat sixth on Wednesday.Source: mlb.com
Athletics outfielder Joc Pederson Beginning Rehab Assignment This Weekend
Joc Pederson (hand) was able to take batting practice once again ahead of Wednesday's game against the Athletics. Pederson reportedly feels good after taking batting practice on back-to-back days. Now, the plan is for Pederson to join Double-A Frisco for a rehab assignment this weekend. The left-handed slugger has been out since late May due to a fractured right hand. He figures to be back in the mix by early August, but Pederson isn't someone that needs to be rostered in fantasy formats right now.Source: Kennedi Landry
Texas Rangers outfielder Kyle Higashioka Hopeful to Avoid Injured List
Kyle Higashioka (hamstring) is hopeful to avoid a stint on the injured list after being diagnosed with a low-grade hamstring strain. Higashioka was forced to exit early during Tuesday's contest. He won't play on Wednesday, but is still considered day-to-day. It sounds like the Rangers are going to give Higashioka a few days to recover before making any decisions regarding his status. Jonah Heim figures to do most of the catching with Cody Freeman serving as the backup.Source: Shawn McFarland
Texas Rangers catcher Ryan Mountcastle Beginning Rehab Assignment on Thursday
Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, according to O's interim manager Tony Mansolino. Mountcastle has been sidelined since late May due to a right hamstring strain. He's not eligible to return until the end of July, so he figures to be back with the O's in early August. Mountcastle was struggling with the bat before going down with his injury. He's not someone that must be rostered right now as a starting spot might not be guaranteed when he returns.Source: Brendan Mortensen
Baltimore Orioles first baseman Tommy Tremble's Return Not Imminent, But he's Progressing Well
Tommy Tremble (back) will be back in two weeks at training camp, but he could return in four weeks. Despite starting camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list this week, Tremble is making good progress from back surgery that he had in May. With the 25-year-old out for another couple of weeks at least, it brings into question whether he'll be available for the Week 1 regular-season opener in early September. Even if Tremble is ready to roll by then, he should remain off the fantasy radar in most leagues, as he's mostly known for his blocking and should take a back seat in the pass-catching department to Ja'Tavion Sanders. The former third-rounder in 2021 has never had over 23 catches or 234 yards in his four-year career with the Panthers.Source: ESPN.com - David Newton
Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales would not say that tight end Ha-Seong Kim Remains Sidelined on Wednesday
Ha-Seong Kim (back) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox. Kim will miss his second game in a row after being pulled from Monday's game due to lower back tightness. The Rays have a scheduled day off on Thursday, so hopefully Kim will be ready to play on Friday. In the meantime, Taylor Walls will draw another start at shortstop and bat eighth versus right-hander Jonathan Cannon on Wednesday.Source: mlb.com
Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Dolphins Easing Darren Waller in
Darren Waller starting training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list is standard procedure for players coming out of retirement, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. "You're trying to be responsible. There's no gravity to it. This is a well-conditioned athlete who's in great shape. There's a 0 to 60 element in it that you try to be preventative and responsible as he gets his feet wet, that was our motivation," McDaniel said. The 32-year-old isn't dealing with a specific injury, but the Dolphins aren't going to throw Waller into the fire right away after he didn't play at all in 2024. When the regular season begins, Waller will be the team's top pass-catching tight end, although fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to necessarily put up the numbers Jonnu Smith did in a breakout year in 2024. Still, Waller will be attractive as a TE2 flier, especially in TE-premium leagues.Source: MiamiDolphins.com - Travis Wingfield
Miami Dolphins tight end Tyler O'Neill Remains Out on Wednesday
Tyler O'Neill (soreness) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. O'Neill will miss his second straight game while he deals with general soreness. Interim manager Tony Mansolino did mention that O'Neill is available off the bench during Wednesday's contest. He also mentioned that O'Neill is trending towards playing in Thursday's game. Jackson Holliday will serve as the designated hitter while Ramon Laureano plays right field on Wednesday.Source: mlb.com
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Jerome Ford Misses Practice on Wednesday
Jerome Ford (undisclosed) missed Wednesday's training camp practice with what sounds like a minor undisclosed injury, according to Scott Petrak. However, as Petrak notes, Cleveland's backfield is thin as it is with rookie second-rounder Quinshon Judkins still unsigned as he deals with domestic-violence charges off the field. With Ford dealing with a minor injury, any more time he misses will mean more reps for rookie Dylan Sampson and Pierre Strong Jr. Ahmani Marshall is the only other back on the current roster for the Browns. Judkins' off-field issues are good news for Ford if he's healthy for the start of the season, but the rookie back could still take over most of the backfield work sooner than later. Ford is currently ranked as RotoBaller's RB53, but he'll become much more attractive if Judkins is eventually suspended.Source: The Chronicle Telegram - Scott Petrak
Cleveland Browns running back Ricky Pearsall Should be Back This Weekend
Ricky Pearsall (hamstring) trained off on a side field at training camp practice on Wednesday, but he should be back for Sunday's practice. Pearsall began training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but it sounds like he might be activated soon. It's good news for the 49ers with Brandon Aiyuk (knee) potentially not returning until around midseason. In addition, fellow second-year wideout Jacob Cowing injured his hamstring in Wednesday's practice. With Deebo Samuel Sr. now out of town as well, the 24-year-old Pearsall has a major opportunity in 2025 to take the next step if he can stay on the field. If the former first-rounder can put his hamstring issues behind him once and for all, he could be in line for a breakout campaign.Source: The Athletic - Matt Barrows
The Athletic's Matt Barrows writes that San Francisco 49ers second-year wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. Up to 220 Pounds
Marvin Harrison Jr. is listed at 220 pounds at training camp this year on the team's latest roster after last being listed at 209 pounds. It was reportedly earlier this offseason that Harrison appeared to have bulked up, and now we know how much. The 22-year-old from Ohio State had some pretty high expectations placed on him in his first NFL season after being taken fourth overall by the Cardinals. He might not have lived up to most folks' expectations in Year 1, but he still provided 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 games (16 starts) in his rookie campaign. The Cardinals are expecting Harrison to be even better in Year 2, and adding muscle will certainly help him win more downfield. Fantasy managers should target him as a WR2 with upside if he takes the next step.Source: PHNX Sports - Bo Brack
PHNX Sports' Bo Brack reports that Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Matthew Schaefer Eager to Make Islanders Roster for Opening Night
Source: TSN
New York Islanders defenseman Matthew Schaefer is desperate to secure a spot on the roster for the start of the season. "I want to be in that opening-night roster and there's still some things I got to work on in the gym, on the ice," said Schaefer on TSN Radio 1050. "I think just getting stronger is the thing for me." The top draft picks usually make their NHL debut the following season, but there is a recent example of a player not jumping straight into action with Buffalo's Owen Power. Schaefer will turn 18 just before the start of training camp in September. He's very raw and inexperienced and may initially struggle to find his footing in the NHL. However, the opportunity is there for him to carve out a significant role on the Islanders' blue line after Noah Dobson was traded to the Montreal Canadiens.Michael Pittman Jr. Active at Training Camp

Daniel Sprong Heads to Russia
Source: CSKA Moscow
Right wing Daniel Sprong has signed a one-year contract with CSKA Moscow of the KHL. The Dutch native will head to Russia after playing nine seasons in the NHL. Over 374 career regular-season outings, Sprong has recorded 87 goals and 166 points. He's had some decent campaigns, but Sprong bounced around three teams in 2024-25, suiting up for only 30 games and notching seven points (two goals, five assists). A successful season abroad could help Sprong find a path back to North America. Goaltender Spencer Martin has also left the NHL for CSKA this offseason.
