Masyn Winn Shut Down for Rest of Season
Masyn Winn (knee) is done for the year, manager Oliver Marmol announced on Friday. Winn tried to play through a torn meniscus in his right knee, but the 72-76 Cardinals will instead shut him down for the rest of 2025. Winn, who hasn't played since Monday, was in the Cardinals' initial lineup on Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers. The club made Winn a late scratch, though, replacing him with Thomas Saggese. The 23-year-old defensive stud will end his season with a .253/.310/.363 line, nine homers, 51 RBI, 72 runs, and nine steals over 537 trips to the plate. Winn is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery sometime in the coming months. Meanwhile, both Saggese and Brendan Donovan will see time at shortstop over the final two-plus weeks of the season.
