Fantasy Football Drop Candidates

Read the recent news and fantasy outlooks of some of the top cut candidates:

Hassan Haskins, RB - Los Angeles Chargers (Cut List Ranking No. 6)

While Hassan Haskins appeared poised ot serve as the lead option on Sunday, he ceded the work to Kmiani Vidal. Vidal had a monster game in his team's 29-27 Week 6 win over the Miami Dolphins. Vidal recorded 124 rushing yards on 18 carries, adding three catches for 14 yards and a touchdown as well.

The 24-year-old looked like the clear lead back for the Chargers in the team's first game since losing Omarion Hampton (ankle) to the Injured Reserve. Vidal's 21 total touches were three times as many as fellow Chargers running back Haskins' (seven).

With Hampton set to miss at least three more games, Vidal could have an extended run of RB1 playing time for Los Angeles. The Chargers will host the Indianapolis Colts in an AFC showdown in Week 7. Haskins is a safe drop in all formats.

David Njoku, TE - Cleveland Browns (Cut List Ranking No. 21)

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (knee) was diagnosed with a knee injury following Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Njoku had originally exited in the second half and was listed as questionable with a thigh injury, but head coach Kevin Stefanski clarified postgame that the tight end had injured his knee. He finished the contest having caught three of his six targets for 28 yards through the air.

If Njoku is forced to miss extended time, Harold Fannin Jr. would step up as Cleveland's top tight end. He is still worth stashing in all leagues heading into Week 7.

Chris Godwin, WR - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Cut List Ranking No. 27)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (leg) is not expected to play in the Week 6 game against the San Francisco 49ers after he missed practice all week. Godwin's fibula injury is in a different area than the fracture he suffered when he dislocated his ankle last October. Right now, he will be week-to-week, depending on how he progresses, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

The Bucs have no plans to place Godwin on Injured Reserve at this time, according to sources. Godwin made his 2025 debut in Week 4, but now he's injured again and could miss multiple games. Mike Evans (hamstring) is going to miss another game, too, leaving rookie first-rounder Emeka Egbuka and Sterling Shepard as the team's top two wideouts.

Tez Johnson should also have an elevated role, and tight end Cade Otton figures to draw more looks in the passing game. Godwin remains a high-priority stash as he could see a large role when he returns, as fellow top wideout Egbuka is dealing with an injury himself.

Calvin Ridley, WR - Tennessee Titans (Cut List Ranking No. 15)

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley (hamstring) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's Week 6 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders. Ridley exited in the second quarter with a hamstring issue and will be held out for the rest of this game as a precaution. He'll finish this game hauling in his lone target for 18 yards. The loss of Ridley should mean increased roles for Elic Ayomanor, Tyler Lockett, and Van Jefferson.

Fantasy managers should check back for more updates on Ridley's status. Sadly, hamstring issues have a tendency to linger, so Ridley could be looking at a multiple-game absence. Given his potential to miss time, he is a safe cut in shallow leagues.

Emari Demercado, RB - Arizona Cardinals (Cut List Ranking No. 5)

Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado (ankle) is questionable to return to his team's Week 6 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Demercado had just one carry for one yard before getting injured. Even before he got hurt, it appeared that Demercado may have been behind both Michael Carter and Bam Knight in the pecking order for backfield touches in Arizona.

If Demercado is unable to return, Carter and Knight would likely see all of the remaining backfield work in Week 6.

Troy Franklin, WR - Denver Broncos (Cut List Ranking No. 22)

Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin had an underwhelming outing in Sunday's 13-11 win over the New York Jets in London. He finished with three catches for 19 yards while rushing for two yards on one rushing attempt and a fumble in Sunday's victory. In what was mostly a defensive game with only 24 points scored between both teams, the Jets' secondary suffocated the Broncos' offense, holding Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix to his second-lowest passing yards in a game this season with just 174 yards.

Franklin would tie with running back RJ Harvey for the second-most targets on the team at four. Losing a fumble on the day nearly erased all of his offensive production, holding him to just 21 total yards in London. Franklin will continue to seek consistency, but is mainly a FLEX option in deep leagues for fantasy managers in Week 7 versus the New York Giants.
