Detroit Tigers second baseman Gleyber Torres (hernia) is planning to undergo sports-hernia surgery now that his team's season has come to a close, per Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. Torres reportedly said he had been playing through the injury for the past month. The 28-year-old is entering free agency this winter after posting a .256/.358/.387 slash line with 16 home runs, 74 RBI, 79 runs, and four stolen bases across 628 plate appearances this season for Detroit. He hit just .209/.317/.314 over his final 101 plate appearances of the regular season, so this injury was likely impacting his performance. Sports hernia surgeries do not usually require an extended recovery timeline, so Torres should be ready to go by the time 2026 Spring Training rolls around.--Will Brady
