Giants Place Mike Yastrzemski On 10-Day Injured List
6 months agoThe San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Mike Yastrzemski (oblique) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to June 21) on Saturday with a left-oblique strain and recalled infielder David Villar and outfielder Luis Matos from Triple-A Sacramento in corresponding moves. Yastrzemski was removed from Thursday's contest with his oblique injury and he didn't play on Friday before landing on the IL on Saturday. The 33-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder will now likely miss more than the 10 days on the IL with his injury, and we may not see him again until after the All-Star break in mid-July. With Yaz now out, expect Austin Slater to pick up the most playing time in the outfield in the Bay Area. Yastrzemski is really only useful in deeper fantasy leagues against right-handed pitching. He hits the shelf with a .224/.304/.406 slash line with seven homers and 28 RBI in 192 at-bats this year.
