New York Islanders defenseman Ethan Bear (undisclosed) was limited to 13:22 of ice time in Friday's 4-2 preseason loss to the New Jersey Devils. He exited the action with an undisclosed injury, and the Islanders didn't have an update on Bear postgame. Bear signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Islanders during the offseason and looks to make an NHL comeback in 2025-26. His last appearances in the league came during the 2023-24 campaign with the Washington Capitals. The 28-year-old had a good season in the AHL last year, notching 46 points (10 goals, 36 assists) in 62 games and earning a spot on the Second All-Star Team.--Taavi Pailk
