Daulton Varsho Keeps Mashing with Home Run No. 8
Daulton Varsho got a late start to the season and has only played 20 games, but he has looked determined to make up for the lost time by mashing multiple extra-base hits as fast as he can. He homered and doubled as part of his 3-for-5 performance on Monday night in Texas. His batting average is only .218, largely due to a .191 BABIP that should return closer to league average (around .300) as the season goes on. He has eight home runs, four doubles, and a triple in his 78 at-bats with only four singles. His .385 ISO and .341 wOBA are fueled by his 18.2% barrel rate and 45.5% hard-hit rate. If his non-extra base hits start finding more holes, his average should trend upwards, and his power production already makes him a nice play in the outfield if you are looking for help on the waiver wire.
