Chris Godwin Downgraded to DNP on Thursday
Chris Godwin (ankle) was downgraded to a non-participant in Thursday's practice after he was a full practice participant on Wednesday. It's a reminder that although the Bucs are hopeful that Godwin will make his season debut in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday, it's not guaranteed. The 29-year-old is still recovering from a dislocated left ankle that ended his 2024 season in Week 7. The fact that Godwin was able to practice in full on Wednesday is a good sign, but how much he's able to do on Friday will ultimately decide if Tampa will make him active this weekend against the reigning Super Bowl champions. The Bucs could certainly use Godwin back with Mike Evans (hamstring) out for at least a couple of weeks, but Godwin is expected to be eased into the offense whenever he returns. Sterling Shepard will be a better flex play than Godwin if Godwin is cleared to play on Sunday.
